Downing Creek

Pet-Friendly Apartment Community with On-Site Pools, Parking, and Gym
Downing Creek is a small apartment community located around the Chapel Hill area. It's home to many UNC graduate students and charges renters a bit more per month than other apartment complexes but the on-site gym, pools, and parking along with other amenities are the reason why. It's luxury living here and is only a short drive away from campus.

Reviewers say everyone here is very friendly and when the weather gets warm it's an awesome spot to hangout. The downside is that it's not walkable to any nightlife options and there aren't many businesses nearby besides a grocery store. That said, this area offers high-quality living that's worth the price.

Close to a Harris Teeter grocery store, the Meadowmont shopping center, and some walking trails. They say it's walking distance to the bus (and it technically is) but it is not a paved or protected path so I often ended up driving to the park-and-ride lot when school was in-person. Not a lot of bars or things that are accessible without a car so I would not move here unless you have transportation.

Suburban and located away from bus options. There are no sidewalks along Barbee Chapel which ruins the idea of safely biking or quickly walking anywhere. Meadowmont is closest shopping. Franklin St is about a $8-$10 uber ride away.

Lots of graduate students and some families. Lots of amenities.

As long as a lot of other MBAs are around you won’t be lonely, and there aren’t any issues with neighbors usually. can be noisy on occasion but for the most part the only thing you have to watch out for is the drivers in the areas where there are no sidewalks.

There's a grocery store nearby, but there aren't really any restaurants or nightlife. The complex itself is very much geared towards graduate students. So if you're looking for a quiet neighborhood to study, this is a great place to be.

Great community, everyone is very friendly. Great for pet owners. Easy to find carpool buddies. When it's warm, the pool is a fun place to hangout.

Not within walking distance of bars or other things like that. This area necessitates owning a vehicle or your Uber expenses will get out of control. During the rush hour commutes getting to campus can take upwards of 15 minutes and during the return from the business school can easily take 30 minutes. Safe community and people are friendly.

Nice enough neighborhood. Very quiet, good amount of families and dogs. My partner and I frequently take long walks and the tree lined streets make it more pleasurable. You can walk to Harris Teeter/Starbucks if you really want to and the shops and restaurants at Environs, but I'd stick to driving.

You cannot walk anywhere, ubers are sometimes impossible to come by and almost always on surge pricing, and you'll sit in far too much traffic to drive anywhere. Otherwise, it's very safe and very quiet.
