SoHill

Social Area and Close to Campus
The SoHill neighborhood is a great place to live for people who desire a spot close to all of the energy and action that Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan offer. It's only a short walk away from Michigan Stadium. Restaurants popular in this neighborhood include Sava’s, Taste Kitchen, and Neopapalis. There are also coffee shops like Espresso Royale, Black Diesel Coffee, and the Pastry Peddler Bakery & Cafe, as well as bars including The Gouge Bar, The Blue Leprechaun, and Good-Time Charley’s.

SoHill is a great neighborhood if you want to be within walking distance to the University of Michigan - and the Ross School of Business in particular. With proximity to the school, one can enjoy being part of the overall academic lifestyle, history, and culture that are a natural part of the area.

SoHill — 8.4/10 Rating (based on 44 neighborhood reviews)
Best part is that it's close to Ross and not far from downtown. It can be noisy however on weekends and game days with surrounding undergrad parties (although that died down really quickly once it got cold)!

It's not that bad. There are a lot of undergraduates in this area, there are some law students, too. It is generally very loud during football season, specifically on Saturdays. There is a good amount of street parking and the food in the area is quick, cheap, and not that bad.

My location is a short walk to Ross, which is especially nice in the winter, and feels very safe. Cons are there are a lot of undergrads and it can get a little loud on weekends. It is also far from downtown Ann Arbor, where many restaurants and stores are.

It's filled with undergrads, but close enough to burns park that is more adult friendly. Walkable to S university bars and restaurants for social time! Less than 5 min walk to ross which is excellent.

Neighborhood is close to school and the IM gym. A bit farther from State and South U, but still totally doable. Its close to South Burns Park which is nice for walking and running. It is loud though because there are lots of undergrads and frats nearby.

Close to Ross. There are a few restaurants nearby for food / alcohol. It is a little far from downtown, but not terrible. The major downside is that there is not a grocery store nearby.

It's a good location. It's about a 5 minute walk to Ross and a 10/15 walk Downtown. There are several take-out restaurants and bars in the area as well as a hardware store, so it's easy to run out and get things last-minute if needed. There are a fair number of undergrads/frats in the area and they can be noisy during weekend nights, but the building is positioned so that the noise is minimized.
