Bella Vista — 8.3/10 Rating (based on 12 neighborhood reviews)
Bella Vista is a family-friendly neighborhood, often described as a “tourist neighborhood” by locals, as it is situated between South Street and the Italian Market. It is full of murals, mosaics, and activities. It is a very safe neighborhood full of friendly people who look out for each other & include neighbors in events. It is a half hour walk from Center City, but conveniently located public transportation give residents the ability to travel across the entire city.

Bella Vista offers a number of options for getting to the office depending on how late you're running. Ubers/cabs get you door-to-door in about 5 minutes, Indego bikes take about 12 mins, walking to the Ellsworth/Federal subway and taking the BSL takes about 20 minutes, and walking takes about 30 minutes.

The immediate neighborhood provides the best Vietnamese, Italian, and Mexican food in the city and it's about a 10 minute walk south to finer dining on Passyunk Ave.

I generally feel pretty safe in the area during the day, although Washington Ave itself can feel very big and dark at night. I've never had any issues or incidents, however.

I love Bella Vista and have lived in two buildings in the area. Parts of the neighborhood can feel unsafe at night, but it changes every few blocks. There are a lot of restaurants in the area, and I like that it's close to both Center City and East Passyunk, so there are lots of options of things to do. It's a quieter neighborhood that Center City, with mostly families and young people in townhouses/brownstones, rather than high rises.
