Passyunk Square
Philly's Best Food Neighborhood
Located in South Philly, Passyunk Square is an old-fashioned but trendy neighborhood. It is an area filled with all the best cultural eats, spacious greenery, and notable music and art events. Some of Philly's most talented chefs have opened restaurants here: Townsend, Laurel, Sate Kampar, Le Virtu, Will. Don't miss the old-school Italian or casual dim sum favorites though. Passyunk Square's nightlife is where to go if you want to avoid long lines and crowded spaces. There are many pubs, casual bars, and nicer cocktail and wine bars scattered throughout as well. Local landmarks include the Passyunk Fountain, the heart of the neighborhood, and Columbus Square, a big park and recreation center. There is an annual Flavors of the Avenue street festival featuring live music and craft fairs, as well as Second Saturdays for local merchants to host art openings, performances, and special sales.
Passyunk Square is more affordable than other hot neighborhoods in Philadelphia. Most rentals here are single family homes, mixed-use duplex and triplexes, and row homes. There is not too much new construction, and the influx of younger residents and families have led to improved schools. Passyunk Square's walkability and vibrancy is the perfect neighborhood for foodies, long-time residents, and newcomers
