Clairemont Mesa

Clairemont Mesa is a large neighborhood of 70,000 people just below University City. Less than three miles from campus, Clairemont Mesa is a more affordable alternative to places such as La Jolla and University City. Like University City, there are several large apartment developments here, but they are generally priced lower. The area is suburban in nature, with commercial districts dotted throughout. While there are restaurants and grocery stores in Clairemont Mesa, they are best reached with a car. The same is true for traveling to and from UCSD. While public transportation is available, the sprawling layout of the neighborhood makes it difficult for people in many areas to have a reasonable walk to many of the stops.
