Central City

Walking Distance to Everything
Located just south of Downtown Phoenix, Central City is home to students and young professionals with ASU nearby. It is a walkable area that is close to anything you will need, and Circle K is there for your convenience. It is a great area if you do not want to be directly in downtown but close enough to still take advantage of all of its amenities. While there are some restaurants, you will most likely need to travel to Downtown or other neighborhoods for local hot spots. Being just south of Downtown, you are in close proximity to the stadiums and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. Central Park, Barrios Unidos Park, Harmon Park and Nuestro Park are small green areas available for outdoor activities.

Central City — 8.8/10 Rating (based on 39 neighborhood reviews)
Roosevelt Arts District is awesome, it's close to everything, and there are great bars, restaurants, and coffee shops. I'm a 15 minute walk from campus. I feel much safer in this part of downtown than in other areas, because there are always lots of people out and about.

I like that the building is right by a park because the greenery is a nice change of scenarios. Roosevelt Square is also within walking/biking distance from the law building which is great. I also think that the building feels pretty safe.

Lots of new apartment complexes, restaurants, and outdoor space. Some homeless people, but not enough to make me feel very uncomfortable as a woman living alone. Overall a safe, cute, and entertaining neighborhood.

We went out one night and there were lots of young people out at the bars and restaurants. There is a nice park behind the building and a coffee shop just down the block.

It's downtown so not really a college scene, but there are some things to do and plenty of areas to eat. Great transit system.

Tons of construction but also walkable to ASU Law and the downtown campus which was most important to me. Can also walk to lots of bars and restaurants and is close to the grocery store and a dog park.

Fun, lots of new places, breweries, restaurants, bars, etc. Very young. First Fridays are the worst if you live in this area, because you can't get to your apartment with road closures.

I really like this neighborhood. It's located in a nice, central location that is close to a lot of restaurants/bars and in great walking distance from the law school. The light rail is also only a couple of blocks away. The one down side is that there's a decent amount of ongoing construction, so that creates noise from time to time. And nearby bars also can get a bit noisy on weekends, but it's not too bad if you keep your windows closed.

This is a great location to live in. There are a lot of bars and restaurants nearby, and it's close enough to schools and other downtown locations that are worth visiting. It's also right off the 10, and you can easily travel anywhere in the Valley.

It is a relatively safe area, however I would not walk around at night unless I was with another person. Of course, being close to public transit, there are some interesting characters and sometimes there are homeless people sleeping nearby or walking around. I have never had major issues with it and it is something that is common in a major city. I frequently run outside and I haven't felt completely unsafe. I just make sure to remain aware of my surroundings.

Everything is pretty nice and walkable around here. The Saturday farmer's market is a great option. There are a ton of resturaunts around and usually a good amount of foot traffic. The only downside is that the crosswalks in Phoneix take forever to change and don't have shade. Walking even a few blocks to school is rough.
