beware
Beware of this outdated building, i wont be renewing my lease. i am moving out in a few months. been here for more then couple of years. their gym is outdated and machines go down every week. their gym is outdated especially their dirty carpet which i witnessed last year being steam cleaned. dingy outdated hallways , leaky windows all over the place. from talking to my neighbors its a trend here. my electric bill is outrageous due to windows. And my rent nearly doubled also. they have a great staff doorman beside the night shift often sleeping on the desk .their maintenance staff are nice guys and very responsive when it comes to work orders and maintaining this out of date building. as for the manager, she's probably been here since the building was built. and often keeping her office door closed , and puts on a fake smile very rude bad vibes. Often heard yelling in a rude tone at door staff and maintenance staff. Gave me a hard time when i wanted to sub lease my unit. she was very rude a disrespectful apparently from talking to some my neighbors they say the same. i came to her with issues that needed to get addressed i think its time to go lady...u know what i will go some where else where management cares about their tenants .
Couldn't wait to get out of there!
This place seemed great the first week. Then I realized the elevators were so bad, it could take you anywhere from 5 to 15 mins to get down from the 15th floor. Elevator was bad for dogs, accidents all the time.
The management was good and then Jeff left; after that it was horrible. Not good at resolving anything, seem to always be scrambling.
Maintenance was superb. They repaired anything that went wrong in a timely matter.
There were roaches in the building due to all the fast food restaurants connected, but the exterminator was effective once he came.
You will have to buy a humidifier, in the winter the heat will dry out your hair and skin, it is also very loud
Security was rude and unreliable, always a problem with packages being stolen...yes, I said stolen! Probably the security, but at times people walking in off the street with no one at the front desk, they could have anything they wanted, with a big amazon cart full of packages.
Tons of college students. It use to be and might still be advertised as student housing. Laundry machines and card machine to pay were always broken.
The building over all was reasonably priced, you get exactly what you are paying for.
Great Value for Money, Great Location, but low social scene
It will have most of whatever you may need and is very close to the intercampus bus stop. Most shops are walking distance. Amenities are a bit old and outdated though. The walls are also fairly thin so it can be tough if you have noisy neighbors.
Great apartment
Excellent apartment, very spacious, great staff, close to campus, cheap price. Amenities are ok- cute garden rooftop but minimal gym. It is close to the underpass for lakefront running and walkable to FFC so this doesn't bother me
Very spacious and building well-managed
My roommate and I have enjoyed living in the Chatelaine. The apartment is very spacious and we appreciate that there's only 4 units per floor. The management is responsive to any issues, and we haven't really had any. While definitely not cheap, the rent is slightly more affordable than other apartments of this size in Streeterville. It is very close to school.
Affordable and Good location. Bad management
For me and my partner it was an ideal location. I could take the blue line to rush easily and she could take the red line to her office( pre Covid). It was also very close to multiple large parks and the lake so easy to have a dog and have enjoyable walks. The building itself is Perfectly fine but the management company does not maintain the amenities that well.
No Issues
We lived at Buena for years and had no issues. The location was convenient for us and reasonably priced for what we got. Small maintenance items were addressed quickly.
Review
I love living at 640, it's close to everything you need and to the water/bike path. I like the quiet neighborhood feel, while still being near the city and main roads. No complaints!
No complaints
The common areas are pretty cool and my apartment is nice, plenty of space and light. The location is great and convenient to a lot - L station, convenient stores, parks, etc.
Loved it!
We can't say enough about living at 2933 Sheridan! It is so close to the parks and walking trails/lake, it's a nice little escape from being 'downtown'. We would walk to the zoo all the time! There's a great restaurant scene a few blocks away and an amazing new Mariano's grocery - seriously we go there for fun. Our apartment was more than we needed, tons of storage and more living space than needed! Never had any issues!
Fantastic!
Have been renting with Group Fox at their Scott location and have had a great experience! The Property Manager is amazing! She is very helpful and is so wonderful to work with. The building staff is fantastic! Maintenance requests can be completed the same day sometimes within an hour. There is always exciting treats in the lobby all year long, including breakfast specials, free pizzas, holiday theme accessories, etc. The location is wonderful! The building is well-maintained. I would highly recommend this property management company and particularly this location for anyone interested in renting in the Gold Coast neighborhood.
Great
Great, responsive staff and awesome apartment. Everything is well maintained, good amenities, and overall good experience.
Great Apartment!
I moved to Chicago from Evanston and found a great apartment at 640 Sheridan. Everything in my apartment is redone and I have hardwood floors, granite counters, and new cabinets. Maintenance is great and responds very quickly. In addition, some of the maintenance people live in the building. Laundry is in the building which is very nice. It's great here :)
Love living at The Van der Rohe!
I've lived in The Van der Rohe for 5 years and am re-upping this year. I love living there! The building staff are super friendly and helpful, and I feel like if I ever need anything it's very easy to reach out and get a prompt response. This specific building is a great location for me to get to work downtown. My 1-bed is a great size with the bedroom separated from the living room by a small hallway, so it is very much 2 separate spaces. SO much closet space, great kitchen storage, and lots of light with floor-to-ceiling windows.
Lovely
We've been at 777 for a year, and the staff is really what makes the building shine. From the front desk to maintenance and management, they all work hard to make sure this is a safe and happy home for all. Spacious units, lovely amenities.
