Paying for convenience

Pros: great neighborhood, gym in the building, responsive management, concierge downstairs and locked entrance to the building.

Cons: expensive for a 1-bedroom, old building (this causes a lot of other issues with pipes, heat, etc.), my apt has no natural light but there are different apartments in this building, not accessible for wheelchairs, strollers, etc.

Resume: this apt is great for a young single person, not bad for a young couple (although there isn't enough space for two), and not very comfortable for a young family with a baby.

It's pretty ok!

For someone who just moved here and isn't planning on staying more than a year, it's a pretty good place. It was easy to get a place in here due to the many rooms available, though it is kinda pricey for the quality of the room/room size. Management is a little odd at times and grouchy, they don't really seem to care about much unless you threaten to leave. The doormen/women are very sweet however! I haven't had major issues here at the Adelphia, but like I said it takes a while for them to fix problems (like plumbing) and there is often much noise, at least on my floor. Bonus: Free Gym upstairs!

Perfect location, great living, decent management

Overall, you can't beat Adelphia House for living in Center City for price and proximity to all the great restaurants and activities in Philadelphia. Public transportation including bus terminals and Jefferson Station are literally a minute walk away. That being said, the apartment itself has been pretty great overall- we had a pest problem that was resolved after we had the place cleaned by an outside company and no issues with heat/cold. Again, the only downturn has been the numerous water shutoffs that take place during the daytime on weekdays but it is an old building and it makes sense for restoration. Overall, good to be in center city for an affordable price.

Quiet and Friendly

Overall my stay here has been pretty nice so far. The management is a little annoying at times but the studio itself hasn't had any major issues and issues that happened were solved promptly. My only issue really is the price, I understand its center city, but a small studio should not cost over 800. The area is nice though and the gym is definitely a plus!

Convenient for a center city college student!

I've been living in the adelphia for over six months now and it has been a great and convenient place as a student. The room itself I've only ever had minor issues with, plumbing and management was responsive. Rooms are small however for the price. Everything is included besides electricity which never really gets to high, at most $50. So again, thats great for a student just starting off by themselves/with a roommate. The only problem we ever had was with the constant construction for months on the room next to use, the construction workers were rude and loud at 6am to early afternoons on weekdays. However, after mentioning it to management, they quieted down thankfully. There is a pretty basic gym on the top floor which is really nice and the doorman is always on duty and very sweet!

Good price for the location

The price for the un-refurbished units is a great price, refurbished units is an okay price given the area and the cost of similar sized apartments in center city (they are in the process of refurbishing all of the units so I expect the price to increase for all units). The only utilities I have to pay are electric and internet/cable services. I've heard of other people having a difficult time with the management here, but I have not had any major issues that were not resolved timely. It is within walking distance of things downtown and very centrally located.

Worst management ever

Stay away from this building, especially the company. The worst ever. They had the most terrible attitude once they got your money. Once you move in, they yell at you and don't want to communicate with any problems you might have. I had the worst experience for all the years I have been with any rental company. They are 100 percent the worst by far.

Review

The location is great but my apartment is a little small and because there is no AC it gets extremely hot in the summer. There is a gym on the top floor of the building which is never crowded. There have been issues with the water but they are working on fixing it.

Midtown Village Reviews

Access to restaurants, attractions, and shops in Center City and even nearby in South Philly or Rittenhouse Square is superb. There is generally a lot of street traffic and drug addiction and homelessness are common in the area, but typically not a source of harm for passersby and also not much different than in any other major urban center in the U.S.
Best neighborhood in Center City - can't beat the price for what you get. Amazing location, just a short walk to Rittenhouse or Old City. Can't beat living in the heart of Center City, and only a 7 minute walk to the hospital. Plenty of night life.
Some crime in the area, but overall, great bar and restaurant scene with easy access to public transit.
Center city is arguably safe but sometimes there are some issues. Police are responsive.
Midtown Village is quickly becoming one of the best places in Philly to live. The quick downside is there's a lot of construction in the area, but that's also the positive if you're okay with the feel of a city that's constantly changing. The area already has lots of great bars and restaurants, and all the new construction is adding in great new options for grocery, coffee, and convenience items. There's now a Target, Mom's Grocery, multiple Wawas, Sweetgreen, etc. all in close proximity to mainstays like Reading Terminal.
Midtown Village is a fast-growing and both has great mainstay restaurants like El Vez and Barbuzzo as well as amazing chains like Chipotle and Sweet Green. The addition of a Target, Wawa, CVS, Starbucks, and Petco makes it even more accessible and naturally the location is as central as you can be in Philadelphia. In comparing options, you usually can get a bit of a discount versus Rittenhouse Square and Old City, mainly because the Midtown Village brand is still being built up, but you really can't beat the location and access to amenities. The only thing it's missing is a full-service grocery store, but between Reading Terminal Market, Target, Walgreens, and CVS you're pretty set. The main downside can be the noise and litter that comes with being in the heart of downtown, but it's a trade off I'm more than willing to make and has been getting better with time.
I love this neighborhood! It's very lively and great for young adults. There are a lot of cool restaurants/bars around. It's a little pricey but what can you expect from being in the center of a city like Philadelphia?
The area is filled with lots of young people. I don't feel unsafe walking around even at night because there are people out all the time. There are a couple of narrow streets I probably wouldn't walk through though.
The neighborhood is amazing and getting better every day! It combines access to great daily conveniences (coffee shops, Target, Wawa, etc.) with some of the best independent restaurants and bars in Philly. The location is incredibly central overall and transit options can get you pretty much anywhere in the city. It can get a bit noisy, though that's the price you pay for being downtown.
