Review

This apartment has everything that I need and I don't often hear my neighbors while in my apartment. The only downside I would say is there are very few students or younger people that live there. Other than that, the gym amenities and outside pool deck is a very nice addition to the apartment and conveniently located by the school.

Its okay, but downtown is dangerous

The building itself is kind of nice. Decent gym, pools, hot tubs. However they have frequent power outages that they have been trying to fix. I was without power for 16 hours one day! I had to stay with a friend. Also, downtown is not safe. There are shootings and very reckless drivers at night. I wish i lived in CWE or Soulard. Yeah its nice being able to walk to school, but at night i uber home even though its 7 mins walking because of how dangerous i have seen it get at night. Might as well be somewhere nicer and drive 7 mins

Excellent Choice for Downtown Living

I will write a disclaimer right off the bat...living downtown is a dangerous choice. However, living in a highrise above the chaos on the streets of St. Louis is quite pleasant. Gallery 720 offers included water, electricity, full-service gym, rooftop pool, rooftop hot tubs, business center, 24-hour doorman, trash, and mail service. All of Gallery 720 units have floor to ceiling windows...hello sunlight. A negative of the building is the central air conditioning...if you are sensitive to fluxuating temperatures, you probably won't like this building (but, check out Gallery 1015 down the street). Another negative is the location. Downtown is not safe, don't let anyone fool you. Cars are broken into (I.e., mine), cars are stolen, heavy homeless population, strong-arm theft, drive-by shootings, and murder all happens on the streets of downtown (just within five minutes of the law school). However, Gallery 720 knows downtown is crazy and therefore they have this building locked down like Fort Knox...seriously, they take security to another level here.

High Security + Friendly Staff

I am proud of my decision to reside at 720 Gallery. It is 6-8 minutes from campus if walking. Doors lock at 6pm so need a code to gain entry. To access elevators you must have a key. There’s a 5 day grace period if paying rent late. Great lighting and views of the Arch and downtown, very spacious including bathrooms and closets. Nice art “gallery” love viewing when I have free time on accessible floors. Large gym with private rooms for yoga or private workout space (snack machines in gym area). There’s 4 jacuzzis, 1 pool and bbq pits, pool table, and common area kitchen to store food. It is a little pricey depending on the floor you select and the amount of rooms. I have a 1 bedroom + office which there’s only a few in the building (can turn office into bedroom). This reviews helped me last year I hope it helps you as well.

Excellent Alternative to Park Pacific Apartments

Yes, the location is further from the law school than the popular, Park Pacific Apartments, however, the building and apartment units are significantly nicer. I toured Park Pacific and Gallery 720 in the same day...there is no comparison. The rent is cheaper, amenities are significantly better, better security, high-end fixtures, secured mailroom, secured garage, floor-to-ceiling windows. The general vibe of the building is much better than dingy Park Pacific tbh. My only fault for Gallery 720 is the lack of temperature control (we have central a/c). If you're sensitive to temperature, then this might not be the place for you; however, I think having electricity included in the rent is a good trade-off. Parking is $115/mo and internet (on average) is $70/mo (depends on the speed you want to purchase).

Safe, good management, great amenities

Safest building in St. Louis I think - 24/7 doorman, 24/7 attendant in the attached garage, cameras everywhere. Clean. 7 minute walk from school. Management is responsive.

Couldn't have made a better choice

24/7 security in the attached parking garage and on the first floor. Cameras everywhere in common spaces. Great lounge & outdoor pool area (restricted access & hours bc COVID). 7 minute walk from the school downtown.

Downtown Reviews

I think downtown St. Louis is an underappreciated place to live, especially on Washington Avenue where all the restaurants and nightlife are. There are plenty of food options whenever I feel like eating out, and the walk to the Arch, the Old Courthouse, and the CityGarden is extremely enjoyable. There are two grocers also within walking distance. I love living downtown.
There isn't much to do downtown. It's great to be close to the law school, and that's a perk for 1Ls bc lots of your classmates will also be downtown, but if you want to be closer to the grocery store, free museums/zoo, bars, & restaurants, try to find a place in/near Forest Park, Brentwood, Soulard, or Central West End. Rent is also higher downtown, but you're paying to be close to the law school & friends who also live downtown.

As a young woman, I don't feel safe walking alone downtown after sunset. I have a couple night classes, but I carpool w friends.

I love the green space downtown though; the arch and City Garden are perfect for walking/running. Ultimately, I'm happy I chose to live downtown bc it helped me connect to SLU's community better, but I wish I would've been prepared to drive/uber more when I wanted to do fun things .
Downtown overall can be a bit loud sometimes smells bad. A lot of things are within walking distance but must pay to park everywhere if you drive anywhere. Safe in the daytime but would not walk around alone at night. No parks or any children-friendly activities in the area, but okay to walk pets.
Downtown has a bad reputation, but if you're vigilant you'll be fine. Generally don't walk alone at night or if you do at least don't wear earbuds so you're aware of your surroundings. You will likely be approached by unhoused people but 90% of them are harmless and just want some change to buy food. All of my neighbors are great people.
Downtown has so much potential but it is a fixer-upper. There's some nice coffee shops and plenty of corner stores within walking distance as well as Schnuck's. You couldn't possibly get closer to the Arch or the Old Courthouse. Sidewalks can be really bad in some areas, not accessible for wheelchair users. People say downtown is dangerous but mind your business and you'll be fine.
Overall, I don't like living downtown. It's nice during baseball season, and I occasionally enjoy running at the Arch park, but that's about it. The area does not always feel safe, although the apartment has fob-access and a doorman, which helps. Moreover, I feel far from campus and other students, which is the biggest drawback. The food and bar scene is pretty good I suppose.
I haven’t had any bad experiences but I as a female I do not feel safe walking after 5/6 when it’s dark. There’s usually a lot of people out at those times on some day but I prefer to stay inside. Community store down the street and lots of restaurants or places to eat nearby.
It's downtown STL. The building is secure and has 24/7 security at the front door. The building locks-down at 6pm and requires pin-code to enter. Outside the building...might help to pay attention and stay off your phone.
