Great location, terrible service.

I moved into The Residences at Springfield Station in November, 2014.

Pros:

The location of the apartment is walking distance to the Blue Line for the DC metro (very end of blue line); which provides quick and easy access to foggy bottom campus if one needs to get there for GWU Hospital clinicals or pick up books at the bookstore. The metro ride from here to the school is 35 minutes if you get on exactly when it opens at 4:45am-5:00am. The metro opens a lot of doors when it comes to exploration of the NOVA and DC area without having to drive (aka you can go out and drink and not get a DUI).

Across the street from the apartment is the Springfield Town Center which houses several nice attractions. As far as restaurants are concerned there is a Yard House, a BGR, a Nando's, a Chuy's, and a Dave and Busters for food and entertainment. The mall has shopping outlets as well that range from jewelry stores (like 8 or 9) to retro video games; there is also a Target attached to the mall as well. There is also a movie theater there and a LA Fitness (its ALWAYS packed).

Surrounding the mall area are other shopping areas as well and restaurants. Not going to type everything, look it up.

Cons:

Although its a nice and fun area to live at I don't consider it very safe. Since I've lived here I've had my car broken into, someone broke into my storage area and stole over $5000 worth of stuff I've collected over my life. If you're only in the area for the school and plan on going back to your home state do not bring anything that you couldn't easily get back.

The apartment management personnel are terrible people to have to deal with. They intentionally send out misinformation via email regarding rent payments in hopes that you'll either overpay through the threat of getting charged late fees.

There are some active duty military families that live in the apartment complex, and they are very nice people. But everyone else is very shady and shouldn't be trusted, you should have some sort of protection. When venturing outside in the apartment area or don't go ANYWHERE in this area without someone with you or having protection, I cannot stress that enough. If I had a daughter I wouldn't want her here by herself. If you're a older, wiser person you should be alright. Keep your head on a swivel and carry protection.
