Branden

Branden is an older building - so it comes with some expected maintenace issues, but UCH is incredibly responsive. Location in West Philly is very convenient. It is a quick walk to the law school, right by ACME for a quick grocery run, and right next to the 21 bus line which takes you directly into Center City. The studio itself is spacious and the building is relatively clean. Building has two locks, and packages are delivered inside the first locked door. Laundry is cheap.

Great value

15 min walk from the law school, in a safe area, with no roommates, and most importantly, affordable! Great value if you are okay with living in an older place with few amenities. I plan on staying here all 3 years.

Overall great deal for a student

The unit is pretty spacious for a studio and allows one person to live fairly comfortably within walking distance from the Penn campus. I was done with shared living arrangements so this was perfect for me. The only major drawback is a lack of closet space in my particular unit, but it was the only one available when I signed on so I was willing to live with that. No dogs are allowed but they did allow my cat to stay for a one-time fee. I Heat, gas, hot water and internet are included in the rent, and the heat is almost too powerful at times. The building is older and the apartment is not modern, but it's budget-friendly and clean. The leasing office/maintenance are friendly and responsive. There is no in-unit laundry - it is on the first floor and you can pay for it with a phone app which is pretty neat. The building is across the street from Penn Police, so it's very safe, and close to many restaurants, Fresh Grocer, and public transportation.

Nice Building

This building is great for grad students, as that's what it is mostly filled with. My husband and I have lived here with our two cats for a year and a half. I feel like the rent is a little high for a one bedroom, but it's a lot bigger than most of my friends' apartments, it is much bigger than theirs. It's very close to both Drexel and UPenn campuses, and it's located directly across the street from UPenn police. It would definitely be nice to have a better view though. If you want to see something other than a brick wall every time you look out the window, this place is not for you (at least not on my side of the building). However, the landlord is great. They answer all questions and maintenance requests thoroughly and quickly.

Studio close to the Law School

I have a corner studio with a walk in closet, separate kitchen and eating area, and bathroom. No dishwasher, internet goes in and out.
