Relatively updated building in a no frills neighborhood

My husband and I moved into the building because we liked the updated amenities (washer-dryer! A/C units), though the building has felt a bit more worn over time.

The on-site staff is always responsive to issues, and we love our doormen and porters.

The building is accessible by many subway lines (A/C/F/Q/R; 2/3/4/5 a bit farther), though it's a bit of a walk (7-10+ minutes to the nearest). However, there's not much of a neighborhood, and the walk across Tillary can be harrowing. While the building isn't in a real neighborhood, it is close to several great neighborhoods (DUMBO, Fort Greene, Brooklyn Heights).

We have had problems with moths in our unit, which is the most significant downside.

Outstanding place to live in Brooklyn. The pricing is a lot more reasonable than Manhattan and the location is convenient and fun!

Spacious studio for a reasonable price

BKLYN Gold is a relatively well-run complex with good bang for your buck. The room is quite spacious compared to a similarly priced unit in Manhattan. The complex has a great rooftop plaza, a gym, and a swimming pool, all included in rent. The units are still quite new, and management is pretty fast at fixing problems. The complex is also quite close to a lot of different subway lines (N, Q, R, B, F, A, C, E).

Very neighborhood-y feel with easy access to Fort Green Park and tons of amazing food.
I've never felt unsafe in my immediate neighborhood. I've walked home from the Jay Street metro late at night with no issues - the promenade is well lit and tends to be fairly well-trafficked.

Although the access to public transit is great, there's not a whole lot to do in the neighborhood. The one good thing is Dekalb market, a food hall.
Neighborhood is lacking in nightlife/restaurants/bars, etc. Safety is probably average - I've walked home via the Myrtle Promenade late at night and I haven't had issues but it may feel a bit unsafe since it clears out late at night. There have been isolated incidents of gun violence in the neighborhood according to apps like Citizen. This sounds bad, but it is probably average for many parts of Brooklyn unfortunately.
Not much of a neighborhood. It does have a supermarket and a decent wine store, but beyond that I don't go anywhere in the immediate neighborhood. However, there are several great neighborhoods nearby.
Everything is nearby, best location ever!
Close to so many great neighborhoods (Brooklyn Heights, Dumbo, Clinton Hill, Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill), which means there are plenty of restaurant options in every direction. A few blocks from Fort Greene Park, a mile from the Promenade, and 2 miles from Prospect Park (so lots of options for running). A mile from Barclays Center. Almost every subway you can think of is within a 12 minute walk.
This is a small neighborhood so close to so many things. It is super safe and has tons of bars and restaurants nearby.
Great neighborhood. Lots of delicious restaurants, and pretty safe.
