Unlike the White Coat Area where the hospital is outside your window, the Shoreview Apartment Complex is along the Huron River above the Argo Canoe Livery. Real people live here, so you have family and pets running around, as well as smooth social experiences outside of your medical school community. Easy 20 minute walk to the hospital <10 minute bike ride, even to the VA hospital. 15 minute walk to Saturday Farmer's Markets and the Downtown Bar scene.

I had an unrenovated unit which made it less expensive, but the apartments are spacious and the living rooms have huge windows. Ample storage space in the basement level for every apartment.

Shoreview is great because you are away from the looming specter of the hospital, but only have a 1 mile walk into the complex. Its on the north side, tucked right next to some green spaces with freshwater nearby for swimming, fishing, and kayaking. Its a 10 minute walk to main street, closer than White Coat area, and you have tons of free parking for guests. Rent is high for sure, but two bedrooms are not expensive and its a place where people from all walks of life live, not just students.

I love the location of this apartment complex. It is right next to the Huron river, Argo Park, and trails. For someone who likes being close to nature in a quieter neighborhood/complex, the location is great and the apartments are pretty nice (though with some maintenance issues). It seems to be mostly grad students/families in the complex. It is a little bit of a hike from campus - 15 min by bike, 20-30 minutes by bus, and 30 minutes walking. I like having that distance but it is good to factor in. It is a pretty easy drive to grocery stores, etc. on the north side of town, so probably easier to live here if you have a car.

In a single, I would say I am overpaying for what the unit itself is. However, what I really feel like I am paying for is the exact location that I wanted. I moved to Shoreview knowing that I would want to have my own place that was geographically separated from the hospital and all things medical school. My apartment overlooks the Huron River and my favorite park in Ann Arbor so I can go fishing whenever I want and take my cat out on walks in the forest. My walking/bike commute in the morning is along the beautiful Border to Border trail and I'm closer to downtown bars than the white coat area. Shoreview definitely feels like a great setting to escape from the stress of my medical training.

Unit is pretty nice, however, management is not good.

This is a quiet complex without a lot of problems, and a beautiful view of the river! The management responds to needs.
