Clean, safe, well-managed, and overall great place to live!

7 West is very well-managed, clean, and has a variety of great floor plans. Rent pricing is fair, but there are a lot of different utility bills that some other apartments might not require, like garbage and an "amenities fee". Parking is $200 a month for the underground garage and $150 for a ramp that is attached to the building. I have about a 10 minute commute to school. The area is similar in safety to the area around St. Thomas and they have security at night. Overall, it is a great place to live!

Only apartment I’ve enjoyed.

While expensive relative to other options, I highly recommend 7West for the following reasons:

1) ~100ft from the beginning of the West Bank tunnel system, which you can use to get to class while being inside

2) about 500ft from Carlson through the outside route

3) provides heated parking for $125 a spot

4) has the friendliest and most accommodating staff I’ve seen in renting for 10 years (they watered my plants every week while I was gone for three months)

5) has many room options from studio to two bedroom, including a one bedroom + den option

6) has great amenities, including a gym with free weights, plenty of cardio equipment, and a lot of empty floor space.

Call me at (217) 918-4356 before you tour and we can split the $1000 referral check, if you decide to move in!

7West

Good. The location is very convenient. The apt. is big and updated. The closets are a really nice size. Laundry is in unit so it does not cost extra. There are some great common area study spaces. From time to time they will have free food events.

Nice Place to Live

Great apartment. Very easy to live hear. Love the proximity to campus. Though it's a bit expensive, I think the provided services and convenience are definitely worth it.

Been Here 3 Years and Loving it

The staff are really kind and welcoming. The building and facilities are kept clean. The location is ideal for using public transportation and it is so close to the law school there is literally no commute time. There is no problem with thin walls and I feel that we have plenty of privacy.

Review of 7West Apartments

7West is a great apartment building if it's in your budget. As far as the building itself goes, it is a standard newish apartment building that resembles a lot of others in the area. For me, it's great because of its close proximity to the law school, but also because living here has made it easy to make friends with fellow law students. Some of my best friends live in 7West and I don't think we would have grown so close by simply having classes together.

Pros: Clean and modern building, pet friendly (although not a lot of actual green space for dogs), responsive management, fun community events (like holiday celebrations), great indoor and outdoor lounge/study areas, a gym, close to the light rail and a handful of bars/restaurants/coffee shops.

Cons: Many of the floor plans are very small, and some are oddly shaped. The price per square footage is high. 7West also tends to "nickel and dime" you with fees. For example, add about $20 to your monthly rent budget because you will be charged for trash, water, and an "administrative fee". You will also be charged a non-refundable move-in fee (mine was $100) on top of your security deposit. These amounts aren't huge if you know to expect them, but they took me by surprise because I never encountered them with other apartments.

BIG TIP: 7West is constantly running discounted rent specials on their units. So don't go by the pricing on their website. Check out Craigslist and use the "map view" to look at all the available 7West units and inquire about the units listed there. You will save hundreds of dollars a month. Also, if you plan to renew your lease, take advantage of their lease renewal specials. I get two free months of rent per year, so my $1,325 monthly rent (when prorated across 12 months) is only actually $1,104/month. That's a pretty great deal for this building.

Review

Solely at apartment complex for convenience to the Law School. Staff is friendly, place is clean, complex is very expensive. If you are an incoming 1L , this place has A LOT of law students so you will make plenty of friends/connections. Would recommend for at least the 1L year, to get established and not worry about commuting to school (especially during winter).

Overall very nice

I think a lot of the perks of living in 7west would be a lot more relevant if we had more class in person, nonetheless it is an overall good experience. There are good amenities (like the gym) and there are a couple decent restaurants right nearby.

Good Building But Very Expensive

This is a very convenient for law students, directly across the street from Mondale. But not cheap at all. There are many cheaper places that are the same quality if you're willing to commute. The gym is very nice and convenient. Also internet is included in the rent which is nice.
