Pricey but convenient

I have enjoyed living at GrandMarc. It's directly across the street from the law school, which is really great for me. It's also right by buses and the light rail. The area is very student-heavy, which works for me since I came straight from undergrad and live alone. There are many other law students in the building which is nice. My unit is nice and functional. It's not the most updated unit ever, but it's clean, large, and great for studying. All utilities except electricity are included, but it's still quite pricey for what you get - you are definitely paying for location. Parking is an extra $100/month. There is a small gym and game room (N/A during the pandemic), but they aren't the nicest. The management is friendly, but because it's part of a huge company, the policies can be maddening. I have a pet, but it must be an emotional support animal or therapy animal, or it won't be allowed.

not quiet

Sometimes it is not quiet as some people yell or play fencing at the courtyard, but overall is comfortable.

Review

Convenient access to Mondale Hall (literally right across the street), but it's not walking accessible to downtown. Light rail stop is just a block away. Small gym on site, but with the pandemic, management is not enforcing masks in the gym. Options for furnished or not-furnished apartments. Furnished apartments feel like traditional dorm furniture but are solid and functional. No pets unless emotional support/support animals.

Close to Law School, Average Living Space

This is an average apartment living space--not the best appliances or the most space, but the location so close to the law school and rest of campus is convenient. Management is pretty responsive.

Don't live here

Extremely rude management with no interest in helping with serious problems.

Everything I would need in an apartment

My 1 bedroom apartment has a full kitchen (fridge, freezer, oven, stove, microwave, and dishwasher) and in-unit washer and dryer. The appliances and building in general aren't very new, but everything operates well. If there are any problems, the maintenance staff comes either same or next day for non-emergencies and right away for emergencies. I did have to bring a dresser, because my unit didn't have one included, which was unfortunate.

Great Place

I would recommend it for its proximity to the Carlson School.

Good

Overall good experience and staff is fairly responsive. Not very luxurious but great for students. Not very flexible with early move ins, but it is possible.
