Good Complex

Stella is a good place to live. I have never felt unsafe, and the apartments are reasonably nice. They are expensive, but affordable compared to other comparable apartments in the area. They are pet friendly but it will definitely cost you. Can’t find much better anywhere else, though. No carpet is a nice touch, but these floors scratch so easily. Maintenance is quick and very efficient. Also very friendly. Can’t really complain. A lot of families live here, and also a good amount of students from what I can tell. If you’re looking for somewhere that is safe (reasonably) and not obscenely overpriced, Stella is for you.

More affordable with roommates

This complex has every amenity you could need - internet lounge, gym, conference room, food trucks, etc., but the BEST part (especially for future APPEs) is the shuttle service to the med center. It is a free service for residents, and it means you won't have to pay to park at the med center. Additionally, my commute to school is relatively always free of traffic. It takes me roughly 12 min to get to campus.
This apartment is a little more affordable than others nearby, but I do work every week.

Living at Stella

The process of obtaining and signing a lease was pretty seamless. The only issue we had there was having to sign the lease agreement multiple times after mistakes in the lease were caught by the leasing agent.

Management is quick to respond to complaints and willing to work through any disagreements/issues. Unfortunately, maintenance requests are not always fulfilled in a timely manner.

Amenities (study room, pool, workout room) are great!

Overall, I feel safe on the property and that is a huge plus.

Good price/quality balance

I like that it is close to school and doesn't cost too much. Complex has a pool, gym, and study/work area. Staff have always been friendly and helpful when I talked to them. I don't like that all the grills by the pool are not gas lit and require charcoal, parking fills up at certain times meaning you have to park further from your building, and there are a few fees that you aren't aware of until you view the lease to sign.

Getting around Medical Center

Medical Center Reviews

9 reviews
There are a lot of medical students and personnel that live in the complex, so it's not unsafe, but there have been reported shootings around the area and within the complex in the past year. The complex is close to many grocery stores and there are busy streets, but there is not too much traffic in the mornings. A lot of traffic on the way home.
The med center is a nice place to live! Hermann Park is super fun and there’s good stuff nearby in Midtown and Montrose and Rice Village and Upper Kirby.
The neighborhood is 100% familiar. You'll need to drive around 10-15 mins to get to restaurants or bars.
It is in a pretty safe area I would say; walking distance to Hermann park-- it's literally our backyard! The zoo is a 5 minute walk. You do have to drive to find places to eat...not far, but still around a 8 or 10-minute drive!
Med center is close to Montrose, Hermann Park, West U, Bellaire, and campus itself.
Because it’s in the medical center, many people around here are healthcare workers so it’s a nice, safe neighborhood. You will hear the ambulances driving through very often which is one downside. It’s right next to the bayou and Herman park so there’s nice walking/running trails.
About as good as it gets in the TMC. People here are fine, but they don't know how to take out their own garbage or pick up after their dogs. Safety is comparatively swell. Close to Rice Village which is nice.
Quiet neighbourhood. Walking distance to Rice Village.
