Still Dealing with the Health Effects

The apartment had mold in the shower. The District refused to professionally clean it and I had to fight to break my lease. My health was drastically affected by this and has never been the same.

Not great but close to campus and affordable if you have a roommate

Pros: Within 15 minute walk to campus, or a 2 minute driving commute. Sidewalk is frequented by pedestrians, runners, and bikers so it always felt safe. Can typically park close to building. Lots of closet space/storage in the apartment and the kitchens were nice. Pet friendly.

Cons: Received unnecessary fines for requirements not communicated in lease. Management was unresponsive to appeals. Sidewalks/parking were poorly maintained in winter and often became very slick and dangerous. Closed community laundry room to "by appt only" during Covid to increase safety but made it extremely difficult to use facility if you work during the office hours. Exterior lights were out on my building for 6+ months, making the walk to my apartment very dark. Management didn't notify me of a random roommate moving in, luckily she contacted me herself. Whole apartment shook when someone slammed a door or during training at Fort Riley.

The District

It’s a cheaper place to live compared to other places in the area. Lots of college students so weekends can get loud from parties. Due to the parties the cops have been called a few time from fights happening or people breaking into cars. But has a gym, free printing, allows pets, can do laundry at the main building, and gives away prizes every Wednesday.

It's fine.

Do you like being alive? Do like being in-doors? Do you want to exchange money for the good/service of a place to live? Then The District is fine for that.

It's relatively cheap. They will take care of your problems if you hassle them enough. The rent is only boggled a few months out of the year.

You truly get what you pay for, and what can I say, you're not paying a lot.

District at Manhattan Review

The apartment themselves are nice. However residents are terrible at picking up trash and taking care of it. My maintenance guy was always very nice, but I think there was trouble putting in a work order at the office. I moved in with a broken closet and I moved out with a broken closet. After moving out, we were charged so much even though the apartment was cleaner when we moved out than when we moved in. I was sent to collections TWICE even though the manage said she was going to take charges off of my bill. It's decent when you're living there, but it gets frustrating once you move out. Also, someone was shot while we lived there but no one was informed about it, we only knew by the gunshot noise and subsequent emergency vehicles.
