Downtown Location and Nice People

The Wareham has small one bedroom and studio apartments, filled mostly with grad students, young professionals, and retirees. It's a renovation of an old hotel- the west side has been updated in finishes and seems a bit more up to date than the east side. All residents have been calm and friendly. McCullough development might be questionable in other apartment complexes but they take good care of the Wareham and are timely. Being on Poyntz is great - you can walk to a lot of local places and see all the parades. There are limited units that have good day light, so it's the luck of the draw for what's available when you're looking. The main floor is a cocktail lounge and coffee shop!

Downtown hub of Manhattan

Living at the Wareham is great if you frequent downtown shops and restaurants, enjoy watching the few parades we have each year, or are looking to get out of the college world of Manhattan. It's a 5 minute drive to campus, 30+ minute walk. Some apartments have balconies which is fun too! Most residents are retired, teachers, or grad students and are very calm and friendly. There is a cocktail lounge and bodega on the first floor of the building! Small spaces and sunlight depends on what side of the building you are on. Very little storage room.

Budget Friendly, Solid Space

I was nervous about making a GA stipend stretch far enough to cover my car payment, insurance, rent, and general living expenses. The Wareham has been a solid place to live with some of the more reasonable rent prices for Manhattan, especially if you are living alone. I live in what is technically an unrenovated apartment, but everything has been well kept and updated recently enough that I don't notice it hasn't been completely overhauled. I live close to grocery stores and other places I have to frequent. The commute to campus is manageable but can take some planning. There is laundry on each floor that several units share. All of the other residents have been friendly, quiet and respectful. The neighborhood is safe. All of the pets have been quiet and friendly too, to the point I don't even know which of my neighbors have pets and which don't. I also have enough space and some separation to have a bedroom, a living room, and a kitchen/ dining space. There is also a solid amount of storage and the bathroom is spacious. Utilities aren't terrible and internet already comes installed in each apartment if you choose to activate it. Sorry this review is long but I wish someone had laid everything out when I had begun searching for apartments in Manhattan!
