BE CAREFUL!

Should have read over the reviews better before moving here. That is on me.. I moved to the west side of town thinking it would be away from the craziness that you find closer to the college... Boy was I wrong...

This is my experience since I have moved in;

There was a shooting on the property.

The grounds around some of the buildings near the sidewalk to the buildings have shattered glass on the ground that have been here since I have moved in. From what I gather from other residents its been there for a few years now.

The property is in the process of putting in a new Wifi company, Which is great! Only issues I had was that when the company came around to wire the apartments, Scenic woods sent their maintenance guys around and unlocked everyone doors in the building they were suppose to come work at. No big deal except the WTC people never showed up and maintenance never came back around to lock the apartments back up. If I would not have been home due to a broken ankle and came home to unlocked apartment I would have been pissed and calling the cops. I Feel that if for any reason Scenic feels that it is okay to come through and unlock their residents doors THEY 100% better go back through and lock the apartments back up. If I would have been at work or on vacation whose to say who could have entered my apartment.

The Property manager is SKETCHY!!!! She tried to tell me that a energy bill was not paid and I needed to give her an additional 80 dollars. But when the receipt was sent to her with dates from when and what was due she insisted that I send her the Original bill showing that I had paid the amount. Even though the Receipt already showed that. I understand mistakes happen but in my apartment my average electric bill is always $150 or more since I have moved in. SO yea odd. Not sure if she's taken money on the side or what that is about.. but it made me very uncomfortable.

The Onsite Manager is extremely difficult to reach, unless its in a email. So have a broken pipe?! send a email, she will at least respond. But if you call her she won't answer and forget about getting a call back. A few residents and I get together to talk and sounds like this is a common occurrence, she has been caught in what sounds like quiet a few lies. Not sure why the management company hired her? Or maybe she was a transfer from, when they were bought out a few years back? Not sure. Wasn't around for that..

Winter is a ice rink around here, they do not take care of the snow or ice removal during winter months. So 4 months out of the year it is extremely dangerous to walk around outside, getting to your car, and even the mail box.

They do have pest control here so that's a bonus just wished it worked, Not sure if it is our building or what but 2 of us here have had brown recluse spiders in our apartment recently.

IF YOU PAY ONLINE, ( Like most of us do) Just know Scenic woods charges you a fees for using your direct Deposit, debit or credit card when paying rent. No little fee either some are over $20 just to pay your rent. If you pay with a check watch your back to! They make it almost impossible to pay rent in check form as the onsite property manager is usually smoking in her apartment and no where to be found. And according the onsite manager the owners decided to get rid of the drop box.

Inside of the apartments are dated but not awful.. Think cheap 2009 vibes. Walls are decent don't really hear your neighbors unless they are fighting. Just know for the same apartment, (but with less property and management issues) go across the street to stone point. Plus it'll save you on average $200 a month.

In all honesty, I think with different management this place could be a good place to stay in Manhattan, but for the price and how it is now with who is running this show your safer to go elsewhere

great!

Great place to live. Chanda ( the property manager) is super nice and incredibly helpful whenever there are any problems.
It is also a generally quiet space ( with the exception of the occasional dog barking) and is overall great value for what you get.

Highly recommend

I chose this complex as a single female, living alone because this complex offered ample lighting throughout the complex, everything was easily accessible and working with the management company was easy to do through email or stopping into the office and issues were resolved promptly. As someone who worked full time I appreciated that they were open after I returned from work so I could stop in to see them in person if I needed to. This location was quiet but a 5-10 minute drive to anywhere in the city. The sunsets from the balcony makes it so peaceful to sit and watch life go by while completing my homework after a long day!

Scenic Woods - West of Town Oasis

The apartment had great amenities (wood floors and granite counter tops). There was a flood during my second year and they were quick to address issues. My biggest complaint was for noise from the neighbors and people not picking up dog waste (I lived on the bottom floor and there was always dog waste by my balcony). High on-site property management turnover which made establishing a renting relationship difficult, but each manager was very nice. Lots of young professionals and army residents, few students which was nice and why I chose to live "outside" of town a bit.

Great place!

Scenic Woods has spacious apartments, which was one of the most important factors for me in making my choice. The fixtures and appliances are higher quality than I'm used to in apartments. I have an extra storage area that's great and keeps my apartment clutter-free. It's clean and quiet. I see lots of pets but they're never noisy.
