There are better options

Pros: Excellent location if you want to live in Cedar Park / Squirrel Hill, a cool roof deck, a spacious kitchen with nice new appliances including dishwasher, good closet space & fairly spacious in general, good water pressure/temperature

Cons: low ceiling, laundry (though free) is shared by floor and often breaks, internet (though free) is very inconsistent with frequent outages. The biggest problem for me is the heat. There is no way to control it--no thermostat, and no valve, for a hot water baseboard. This means the apartment can get up to 80 degrees in the winter. There are ways to adjust to this (I have a temperature-controlled fan that circulates air from outside) but it is a constant frustration in the winter. On the plus side, the heat is rarely too low.

Good Option

Close to campus, trolley to campus is right outside the door. Free street parking. Feels safe. Clark Park is down the street. Great food options.

The building is old which comes with a host of problems (water leak, heating, pests), but maintenance will always come to address. The kitchens and bathrooms are updated, but small.
