Unfair, predatory practices and awful atmosphere

After being guaranteed an apartment at one rate in one location, the day prior to moving in I was told my apartment had been rented three months prior. The only option at that point was to accept a more expensive apartment in a different building. This complex charged random and inappropriate fees, including pet rent for my service animal and additional fees for hidden or unexplained charges that materialized with a threat of eviction with no warning on multiple occasions. The rental payment portal was down for over a month, but the office was closed during normal operating hours, so there was no way to pay rent. The office staff was rude and dishonest. Over a period of two months, there were seven fire “inspection” procedures that were incredibly loud and disruptive with little to no warning provided to residence. The police were frequently called to this “luxury” apartment for domestic violence issues, but the community policies on noise making for common areas was rarely enforced. Amenities were often closed or inaccessible. This space was not inviting or inclusive. The security gate was almost always broken or propped open, leaving the community vulnerable. Absolutely would NOT recommend this far any student.
