The proximity to the law school is by far the best feature. It's within a five-minute walk to the school, through a safe neighborhood. The property is very well-lit outside with multiple motion-activated lights that make it very safe at night. There are two entrances with two doors each, making those entrances very secure. The living and bedrooms are spacious. The living room contains a non-functional fireplace. One bedroom has good closet space, as well as built-in drawers and shelves in one wall, while the other has a much smaller space that's virtually unusable for clothes, but is good for storage. The bathroom is small but functional, and while storage both inside and adjacent to the bathroom is fine, there is very little counter space. The kitchen is on the smaller side and suffers from a lack of counter space, but the dining room is accessible and of average size. However, the kitchen has suitable storage space with good cabinets. The electric stove is outdated but in working order. The refrigerator came with the unit as well and works fine. The utility room has room for both a washer and dryer but they were not included. It also has a lot of cabinet storage space. The smoke detectors are electric and brand new as of spring 2022.
We've had multiple issues with the heating system failing in the apartment, but the landlady has been timely in seeking out solutions. Any fixes usually occur first thing in the morning, usually between 7-9 AM. The exterior walls are thin in terms of sound and so any kind of yard work or conversation will be heard inside the bedrooms. There are currently flooding issues with the basement that are in the process of getting fixed, so storage there is minimal, and construction is ongoing. There is no centralized air conditioning nor are any air conditioning units included. Parking is included with the rent and consists of a one-car spot in the garage as well as a one-car spot in the driveway outside the garage. The garage is remote-operated and a decent size, detached from the main house.
We haven't had any issues with the owners or the other tenants. The outdoor area is fairly well maintained. In the winter, the path from the garage/parking area to the back entrance of the house can be particularly precarious due to ice, but aside from that, everything else is of average safety during winter periods. Garbage and recycling bins are provided. Pets are not allowed.
