Our house is not super nice, but it does the job and is a great price.

The apartment is super cute and cozy. Gets a little cold/drafty in the winter, and the toilet in the bathroom is at an odd angle.

Cheap and clean space with eclectic landlord
The apartment is in a great location, a few blocks down from the loud frat houses. We have free parking and free in house laundry. We have a balcony and the apartment comes fully furnished with nice furnishings.
Downsides: windows are drafty and the heater doesn't work well in the living room. Landlady is very odd and runs a one woman show. She fines you for every little damage, so you're better off trying to fix things yourself. She also manipulates the rent so that you have to move out a week early, but you still send up paying the full rent each month (many Ann Arbor landlords do this). Finally, you have four days after your lease ends to give her a forwarding address to return your security deposit; she keeps it if you fail to comply with this rule.

Our refrigerator stopped working the first week we lived there. Our landlady refused to reimburse us for our groceries that spoiled. If we didn't email her to make sure she received our rent every month, she pretended she received it late and charged a late fee. She was rude in every interaction we had.
Another law student who lived in her other property had a bat infestation and her ceiling cave in. The landlady did not adequately respond until Ann Arbor housing code enforcement got involved.
