Go Somewhere Else

If you’re looking for a (relatively) cheap place to live within city limits, then by all means, The Palms is your place but don’t be fooled by the list of amenities. Most of them are lies. Let’s start with the 5 pools that have failed inspection for at least the last 4 months so no one has been able swim for most of the summer. & when the pools are actually clean they’re not cleaned properly so you get 1 good day of swimming & then it looks like a lake surrounded by concrete. Then there’s what used to be the “media center” that has been destroyed and is mostly used to create the illusion of a fun place to live. & the business center that’s been gone for over 3 years it seems. & don’t even get me started on the on-site laundry. One of them has been locked permanently because the homeless have completely overrun it. Another only has 2 working washing machines and the others are all way back in the back of the complex. The management team here (Excel Property Management) is only looking to gauge prices and not actually provide a nice place to live. Every month they waste paper and time, going door to door hounding people for ridiculous amounts of money(as if the whole country isn’t suffering) but they refuse to actually fix anything. God forbid something goes wrong in your actual apartment. Maintenance throws a half-baked fix on top of it and calls it a day. The people in the office speak little to no English so sometimes you’ll be waiting 15-20 minutes just file a report or hell even pay your rent. This complex has NO SECURITY. There’s never a guard in the security guards post which means any and everyone can enter. Not to mention the gate is constantly broken and wide open. The dumpster areas stay overrun with cat sized rats. The cute little convenience store they have inside is probably the only real bonus to living in this complex and even that isn’t as great as it sounds seeing as the owners leave for weeks at a time with little to no notice. All in all, The Palms on Westheimer is a cute place to rest your head but a terrible place to try to live permanently, even if it’s just a couple years.
