The Gale Eckington

The actual apartment is very nice. The actual building is okay, not super super clean looking (first floor hallways smell like cigarettes) . Rent is super cheap though and the building is on the MBT trail that goes directly up to CUA (10min bike ride or 25min walk). Amenities are great - two gyms, two pools, multiple outdoor spaces, grills etc. Plus there is a huge park right outside and new condos/restaurants under construction next door. Everything you need is super walkable. Location is better than living on/near campus - no undergrads in the building.

The Gale

Has great amenities but the location is not developed at all, and can be unsafe at night. Management is not very responsive. Rent is high, but you cant beat the price for the space, especially in DC. The lobby is very nice and there are two pools.

Nice place, so so location

I've enjoyed living here, and the amenities are really nice. The buildings and surrounding area are clean. But the walk from the metro is a little far late at night and requires crossing a major intersection and some occassionally unpleasant bystanders

Very Well Kept

The apartment building is well kept and always clean. Maintenance is quick to fix anything in your apartment that needs assistance. The gym is nice and has lots of different equipment. Overall I have been very pleased with my living arrangement. I would definitely renew my lease here.

Quiet area and nice amenities

The best part of living at The Gale (previously Trilogy NoMa) is the peaceful environment mixed with top notch amenities. The building is always clean and the communal areas (including outdoor pool, gym, and movie theatre make the expense reasonable.

Great apartment building for young professionals.

This apartment is a great place for the young professional looking to live in a clean, and safe environment with all of the amenities you could possibly want or need. It is pet safe, comes with parking, a gym, a pool, as well as plenty of common areas for hanging out with friends and a valet service for trash.

Management seems to be improving!

I think the new management company - JBG - has really improved things. I feel that management is more responsive to the needs and wishes of residents. Some of the front desk people are really fantastic. There are still some inflexibilities, however, such as the fact that you can't do short term parking. Also, pet fees are exorbitant.

It's an attractive building, with a nice pool, an okay gym, and a gorgeous lobby. Location is kind of on the fringe of DC, but it's near the biggest harris teeter in the district which is nice. I think it's only going to get better (or so I hope!)

Great spot

This is a great spot to live for a young couple just trying to make its way in this crazy city. Amazing amenities and a friendly staff help us make the most of our down time. A very nice gym keeps us in shape and ensures we are all staying true to our New Years Resolutions!

NoMa Reviews

I don't venture too far outside of the few blocks of NoMa because outside of the neighborhood isn't as safe. However, the city has done a lot to revamp the area in the past few years, so there are new restaurants and bars opening up. I also live right across the street from the metro, which makes the rest of the city much more accessible.
NoMa is approximately a 35 minute commute to GWU. However, my roommate works on the hill which is less than 10 minutes away. There is a Harris Teeter connected to the building so you don't even have to go outside in order to shop for groceries. The area is still up and coming, so some of the surrounding streets don't seem very safe. However, it is getting better each and every day and it is easy to avoid those streets.
It's an up and coming neighborhood though I live in the very nice part of it. It's rough across North Capitol, but there's nothing over there to go to so I never run into any issues. There's a big dog park as well as plenty to do and eat at Union Market.
Neighborhood is okay. Everything is walkable. Bars/restaurants/grocery stores are super close by. Parking is usually available. Super safe (just don't go near the NY Ave Wendys after dark)
NoMa is up and coming - there are not too many places to eat/socialize in the evenings but the neighborhood is close enough to H Street that you don't feel too stranded.
It's growing like crazy but seriously lacks on the dining/nightlife portion. I like the geography and with the REI opening I'm hoping the nightlife will shift as well.
Fairly safe, though I wouldn't roam around a lot at night. It's certainly a transitioning neighborhood. Lots of people with dogs, big and small.
Noma is a cool area with young professionals mainly and has a lot of food/bar options! It's about 30 min from campus via metro, 20 min driving, (don't walk to campus). The apartment itself is super safe, as is the immediately surrounding area. But it isn't safe to walk west of the area or too far north either.
