Affordable Option with Only Minor Downsides
Overall, this apartment has been the perfect affordable option for my first year at law school. My one bedroom apartment is a lot bigger than the other options in the DC area with a square footage of 780 ft. The apartment is completely carpeted (so no hard wood unfortunately). There is a key fob swipe access to get inside the building and staff at the front desk. Myself and some other tenants have had issues with packages being lost by the staff at the front desk, eventually mine were luckily found. The only significant issue I have had is that tenants cannot pick whether to run heat or AC within our individual units. They switched over to heat in October and my apartment gets a lot of sunlight so I constantly have my windows open and fans running to keep my apartment at a comfortable temperature.
Most of the amenities have not been open due to COVID-19. However, I have been able to enjoy the beautiful courtyard in the center of my apartment which is such a nice place to hang out. Around the courtyard is also a running track, which is nice to give tenants a safer option to exercise if you prefer to run later in the evening. If you want a washer/dryer in-unit you have to specifically request an apartment with one as not all units come have them. However, each floor of the building has a really nice washer-dryer room that is still a fairly convenient option. The walls aren't too thin but I can hear my neighbors from time to time. The apartment has an awesome tenants chat page/message board which is a really nice feature as well!

Quiet Apartment
The apartment unit itself is not good enough shape and the maintenance staff is quick to respond to issues. The amenities are fairly good, but the parking fee is very high. I also feel that building security could be improved. Most of the time one of the two main doors is out of order. In addition, the door from the garage to access the building is never secured.

Great environment
This apartment building is quite and offers a lot of amenities, including pool, great gym and nice green areas inside. It is big and you have a great view of Silver Spring, if you have a window facing the outside of the building. Concierge at all times, I love how the elevators are quick. Maintenance is fantastic. And you are close to downtown Silver Spring and public transportation!!

Living at The Point
It is a great place for a starter apartment. It is located right near the Silver Spring Metro which is convenient for those that work downtown and it is near the Downtown area as well with easy access to the Fillmore, the movie theater and restaurants. It has options for modern or traditional interior features but there is definitely a cost difference. Management is pretty quick to fix any problems and the front desk staff are typically very friendly. The plaza that is placed in the center of the building is lovely with plenty of space to practice yoga or hang out with friends by the fire pit. There is also a running track that is located in the center of the building which is great if you don't want to run on the street or on a treadmill. There is a ton of closet space and different storage options in our apartment, and there are a wide variety of apartment layouts to choose from. The building is also pet friendly and hosts a number of social events throughout the year.

It's Just Like College Dorms
This place is cheaper than the others in the neighborhood... but you'll soon see why. The front side of the building is well maintained but the backside - the management couldn't care less. The other tennants are loud. Lots of parties in the courtyard. On our side of the building there is little or no sunlight. The ceilings are high everywhere, but really low in the kitchen and bathroom. The exagerated differences make the bathroom and kitchen feel cavelike. All finishes look nice, but you quickly find that they are finished poorly and things come apart-- the door nob on the laundry room, the sink facets at have a spare quarter inch that jiggles, our tub is REALLY old, but painted over with fresh plaster-- slopily so some plaster is also on all the finishes. There is hair painted into the walls in some places. It all seems like a rush job. Once our (only) toilet broke and they said it would take two days to get it replaced-- I had just come home from the hospital after having a baby! They seem to take good care of their employees, whcih I admire, but the same is not true for the tenants. There are some really good staff members (like Justin!) but many who just don't care, too. I would say-- if you are a young professional this is a GREAT place to live. But not the best for someone with a little family and not hte best for someone older than late 20s.

You can do better
Its not a terrible place but if you have the money, you can do better. It is in a great location as it is in downtown Silver Spring but the building has a lot of problems and people are not always responsive. There were some hidden details like fees or that the dishwasher does not work.

Extremely Good and Bad
The amenities and location can't be beat- the atrium and outdoor track alone make it worth it. The extreme opposite is how frustrating management is. They often don't have amenities working properly and can be very unresponsive. We've also had continuing pest issues in one unit while I've stayed in another unit and never had a single problem.

Great Location But Some Big Problems
I've lived at the Point for about 5 years, starting with some previous owners. While there have been significant improvements over that time, there are still some major concerns with the building. That said, if your main concern is price and proximity to the metro, you might love it here.
Pros:
- Just a few blocks from the metro
- Cheaper than newer buildings in Silver Spring
- New management got a good hold on the pest problem over the past year
- Updated courtyard is very nice
- 7-11, Deli (w/beer and burgers), hair saloon, and more in the building
- Super pet-friendly and it has two areas for dogs to use that make morning walks good. 90% of the dogs in the complex are very friendly to people and other dogs.
Cons:
- It takes a lot to get management to respond to issues (except maintenance; maintenance team is pretty good)
- It's unclear how safe the building is. We have police in the building a couple times a week and the management office has never told us anything about this (even when asked).
- It's an old building, so if you have neighbors who smoke (anything) then your apartment will get the smell as will the hallway.
- Amenities aren't the best. Gym gets shut down a lot due to issues and the units that you can rent when family comes for the weekend are not acceptable at all (you would never rent them in the condition they're in)
- Communal washers have had a mold problem for about a year and it's bad enough that your clothes may smell
- Elevator problems are a weekly occurrence
