Living in Munger with 6 Roomates

Great location from Ross. Close to all the bars and common hangout locations. Munger offers great study rooms when Ross rooms have full reservations for the day. The massage chairs are great.
The fact that is no windows in the rooms did at first scare me. But with the type of class schedule, one has, its perfect if you want to take a nap or your schedule is opposite to that of daylight.

A good place for mid-campus students

-close to middle campus
-very good furniture
-good management and sources of help, especially when you forgot to bring keys with you
-no additional fees for internet/electricity/gas/etc

-midnight fake fire alarm
-thin walls so that you may not be able to sleep when people speak loud in other rooms

Great building, incompetent residents

Amazing amenities and great location. Prepare for a lot of fire alarms going off from people not knowing how to cook.

Great building but lack social aspect

Great infrastructure and best location on campus. However, living with people outside the MBA program and building rules prevent social events.

Much better options in town

Windowless rooms and the common spaces are too crowded. I would not recommend living here unless it is a last resort and a student is in a pinch to find housing. Fire alarms go off way too often and sometimes in the middle of the night.

No Window, No Way

Munger Graduate Residences does not offer much to be desired by the typical graduate student, especially if you are a health professional student who takes classes and completes field work approximately 1-2 miles north of the location. Munger does not offer parking so you must rent a space nearby, which typically costs $75-100 per month. But here is the pièce de résistance: you don't get a window in your room. Good luck surviving seasonal depression or maintaining your slowly failing eyesight, especially during a pandemic and you should not be spending long periods in common spaces, when 95% of the rooms in Munger have NO WINDOW. Besides these issues, the management is not very good in the building. The maintenance staff is very friendly and responsive to repair requests, but if you have an issue with access to the building, mail (which gets LOST all the time by the sorting staff), WiFi failure, or any number of problems, good luck getting through to someone in a timely fashion. Also, Munger has a huge problem with frequent fire alarms. To add insult to injury, Munger loves to have twice-yearly, week-long fire alarm testing throughout the building. Good luck trying to study, sleep, attend class, hold virtual meetings, think, or maintain your sense of hearing/sanity. Finally, during the pandemic, the main reason why people decide to live in Munger (the community programs, gym, study spaces, and collaborative environments) has collapsed on itself. Just choose a normal apartment complex. You're an adult, you've earned it. If you are a masochist, have copious amounts of money to throw away, and/or not grown up enough to live outside university housing, this may be the place for you. Even still, I'd find somewhere else to live.

Great

It was great up until the covid started, staying in an apartment with no windows and no access to other facilities within the building isn't worth it. Well, hopefully you won't live through a pandemic in Munger so this might not apply to you.

All-in utilities & many facilities

I really appreciate Munger for the convenience it brings in terms of cost and facilities. Being relatively new, the place also feels very pleasant and comfortable. They are also active in building community and connecting people. That said I think the biggest downside would be the lack of windows for most of the bedrooms. While it is definitely something that you can get used to, especially given the short daylight hours during winter, it’s not the most ideal.

Munger Grad Residences

I absolutely love living in Munger. The facilities are great and everything you need is in the building. The staff is friendly, responsive, and professional. It's a great way to meet students in multiple different programs as well. You also can't beat the convenience; it's about a 5-7 minute walk to Ross.

As you know some bedrooms don't have windows. My personal preference is that it doesn't bother me. There's plenty of light in the apartment common area, and there's also a lot of space on 8th floor. So plenty of other areas to do work and hang out.

Pros: 8 minute walk to Ross or downtown. Access into residence halls, suites, and rooms very secure. Maintenance managed by school so never have to shovel snow. Across from the Student Union that has fast food restaurants and Starbucks.

Cons: Have to walk a few blocks to get to real restaurants (like 2-3 blocks).
The main strip of stores/restaurants/etc. is only a 15 minute walk. The football stadium is close. Packard street (runs alongside the building) drops you off on State St which takes you to the highway. Travel is easy. The neighborhood has not felt unsafe to me at any point, though I generally don't travel the area between the areas of 2am and 6am lol so I can't vouch for those times. It seems to be college students and families mostly.
Germantown is geographically located in the heart of a U-M students' universe. Equally centered between downtown's bars & restaurants and Central Campus, living in Germantown allows for easy access to Ann Arbor's student essentials.
Extremely fun neighborhood, with lots of excellent restaurants and bars/clubs within walking distance. A 10-minute walk to Ross and other popular housing spots such as The Yard and 618 South Main.
Parking is a bit of a pain in the butt but there are ZipCars in many locations. That is the way to go! Don't bother bringing up a car. You're going to need a car to go to groceries.
Love all the restaurants and bars that are near us, as well as the fact that we are just a quick walk to campus. Neighborhood feels very safe, even late at night.
Film, booze, quick food, brunch, pharmacy, grocery, late night pizza, theatre (film, plays, musical artists), etc., etc all within a 10 minute walk.
7 minute walk from Ross, 10 minute from the Bus.

Its centrally located to bars, restaurants, classes, and everything else you need.
