Do not be tempted by the cheap rent and proximity to Ross

The building and management are awful. We were without heat for half of October, despite the below freezing temperatures, the elevator was broken for almost a year, and the place floods on the regular and the water constantly gets turned off. Management is doing nothing to prevent these issues in the future, and doesn’t communicate anything to the residents. I could go on and on. Under no circumstances should you live here.

Good for Space and Convenience

For space and convenience to Ross, you can't beat Forest Plaza. The apartment layouts are huge and it is only two minutes from Ross. The building is also made up of a lot of Ross students, so there is a good community if you choose to get to know everyone (it is a quiet building overall however so you have to take the initiative on this).

It is an old building so compared to many other options in town, it is outdated (though they are updating units individually) and things often go wrong (this year for example we didn't have heat for 10 days and the elevator was broken for multiple months). Management does eventually get to all issues, but they do not move quickly which is frustrating. There are also only two laundry units for the entire building which can also be annoying.

That said, despite these issues, I plan to stay in the building for another year and recommend it for anyone looking for space and convenience.

Close to Ross at a fair price

Three blocks from Ross, building is mostly MBAs, studio has a lot of space. It's an old building, and with it, repairs are often needed to things like the heating system and water system, but they are usually fixed fairly quickly. You don't get modern amenities, but when I was apt hunting in 2016 you had to pay much more $$$ to get a modern 1BR or studio. I have liked living here and would recommend to others.

It's okay

It's okay if you want something very close to school (4-min walking distance). However, the building is very old and you may have maintenance or heat issues.

Great location, horrible management

Large apartments with really convenient location to Ross and South U but horribly managed, old building. Did not have heat for a month this Fall in below freezing temperatures and management is slow to respond (if at all) to other maintenance issues.

Convenient and spacious studio

My studio is great, it's almost like a one bedroom as the kitchen is a separate room. I like that it is so close to Ross, which means I'm able to go back and forth during the day to change/eat/rest/etc. The management company okay, there are some challenges with the facilities as it's an older building, but overall this is has been a great place for me.

Don't Live Here if You Can Help It!

The Management company has been horrific. The location is the only benefit of this place, but even the proximity to Ross doesn't make this place worth it. I can't say enough bad things about this place. It was built in the 1920s and hasnt been well maintained. The pipes have burst at least once a year, flooding every apartment from the 5th to the 1st floor. The elevator was broken for 8 of 12 months last year. There are only 2 washers and dryers (which are expensive) for about 60 units and are still leaking/foaming after a year and a half. If that's not bad enough, crows come to roost in the trees outside of the apartment, making the place a mes (especially cars) and even sometimes break tree branches that fall on cars. My windshield was shattered and the management company didn't do anything about it. This year, the heat was off for over 2 weeks when it was well below 30 degrees and the management told us to "keep our windows closed" as a solution. If all of this wasn't bad enough, they increase rent without reason, don't negotiate lease timing or extensions, and think they can get away with anything. They don't care at all about tenants. If you have ANY choice - DON'T LIVE HERE!
