Worth the Money

I absolutely love my apartment. The rent is pretty pricey, but that is to be expected with a one-bedroom apartment in a 5-year-old apartment complex. Although on the more expensive side, it is not abnormal for similar one-bedroom apartments in the area. At The Preserve, you have the option of renting a unit in one of two buildings. The first is the old Coca-Cola distribution plant which was completely renovated in 2015, featuring more industrial, loft-style apartments. My unit is in the second building which was built from scratch in 2015. These units are less industrial and have more natural light. My unit is very spacious with huge windows, updated appliances, a walk-in closet,

and a huge bathroom. Another feature that is unique to The Preserve is that each unit, including first floor units, have a porch or balcony. Residents have access to so many amenities located on the premises, including a gym (with pelotons!), a pool, a community room, grills, a business center, and a rooftop hangout spot. It is located right in the middle of Scott's Addition, across the street from Veil Brewery and walking distance to many other restaurants and breweries, while still only being a 10-15 minute drive to campus. The property management staff is SO attentive. The building is kept very clean and in proper working order. My maintenance requests are always completed the day of, typically within an hour or two of submitting the request. The building is also always up to date on pest control. Since I have lived here in August, my apartment has been sprayed for preventative treatment (included in rent, at your convenience) twice. I always feel very safe in my apartment, even living alone on the first floor. The preserve is a pet friendly apartment complex, but never loud. Most residents are young professionals or grad students, which creates a fun and vibrant atmosphere; however, everyone is respectful of others. There are lots of different floor plans to choose from, including 2-bedroom apartments. Additionally, there are different lease-term options, starting with 9 months, which is incredibly convenient for law students who don't know what their summer plans are. I 100% feel like I am getting my money's worth at The Preserve and don't plan on leaving anytime soon.

Scott's Addition Reviews

6 reviews
Scott's Addition is one of the most hip neighborhoods in Richmond right now, very up-and-coming renovated warehouse vibes with so many breweries, new fun restaurants, and gyms/boutique fitness studios. It's also very walkable to other parts of downtown, like The Fan, Carytown, and Downtown VCU.
There are a lot of fun brewery, cider places, and really great restaurants! It's close to the freeway entrance and it's generally a really safe area. There aren't many trees and absolutely no greenspace though.
I love Scott's Addition. There are a ton of great places to eat and drink in the area and they're all walkable. I have never felt unsafe.
It's young and hip!
Scott's Addition is a great up-and-coming neighborhood in Richmond. Scott's definitely has more of a young professional vibe to it, which I like much better than other neighborhoods, like the Fan or the West End, which I feel like are either overflowing with college students or families. Scott's Addition is home to tons of breweries and restaurants, leaving plenty to do on your days off. The only downside to living in Scott's is that it is still a very new area. As a result, there are still some seedy areas and lots of construction, making safety an issue at times, especially at night as a single girl living alone. With that being said, I have not personally experienced any issues where I have felt threatened or unsafe.
This is an amazing area to live in! Everything is in walking distance! There are shops, restaurants, breweries, gyms... you name it! Very young adult vibe and close to I-64 and the baseball diamond. Very quick and affordable uber to the fan and Shockhoe Bottom
