Virginia Highland — 8.8/10 Rating (based on 17 neighborhood reviews)
Pros:

Quiet, attractive homes and neighborhood, great proximity to Emory and all other in-town neighborhoods, can spend the entire weekend without using your car if you wanted, tons of bars and restaurants around.

Cons:

Vibe of bars / restaurants is more casual / low key / divey so if you are looking for something more high end and urban in terms of high rises and newer build, I would look at Midtown or Buckhead.

I think this is an ideal neighborhood. Inman Park might be the only other area I would consider above the Highlands.

Love this neighborhood. If I stay in Atlanta after school, I’d want to stay in this area. Fairly safe, decent restaurants, close to grocery stores, and nice to walk around.

VaHi is a perfect launching point to get to campus quickly (5-10mins) as well as walk to attractions like Ponce City Market, the Beltline, and all the bars students are likely to go to. I've got beautiful houses, an abundance of uber drivers, and a lot of history in the neighborhood. It's perfectly located to quickly get anywhere in town. The only downside is that crime as gotten worse in the neighborhood since I've lived there with more car break-ins and late night muggings, but I think that's true across Atlanta.

The neighborhood is wonderful! There are plenty of things to walk to, and it seems very close to all of the other neighborhoods in Atlanta. The beltline is basically in my backyard, so that is a huge plus as well.

Also with the belt line nearby I have plenty of pedestrian friendly areas to exercise. The neighborhood is beautiful and every house is unique, so I always look forward to running in this part of town.
