Sizable Apartment in a Great Location

Great location, close to both campus and Rittenhouse Square. Modern, recently-redone unit with great appliances (Viking), spacious, big windows, decent closet space. The management is responsive and the staff are friendly and helpful. Overall the experience has been excellent, though cons would be: many strictly-enforced building rules, uptight residents and lack of some luxury amenities (gym, pool, common rooms).

Very happy with our decision!

The apartment is beautiful: wood floors, modern kitchen and bathrooms, extremely spacious, lots of sunlight, and a very convenient location. The landlord was very responsive initially, but took a while to take care of basic maintenance issues that the apartment had when we moved in. Eventually it was all resolved, but the hassle was more than ideal. The building doesn't have any amenities, but it is around the corner from 2401, other gyms, 30th street station, and Trader Joe's, so we love the location. The neighboring buildings are not right on top of ours, so we have a nice open view towards Market Street.

23: A Condiminium

Decent Condo building in a pretty good location - 5 minute walk to Trader Joe's and lots of great restaurants and easy public transit access nearby. However, since it's a smaller building there aren't many amenities (e.g. no gym in the building).

Fitler Square is really cute and homey. It's around a lot of other medical students, so it's a good social area and has an easy commute to school. It's also great if you like running because it's right off the trail on the river. Food is good but a bit homogenous (compared to West Philly especially.
Locust and spruce feel a lot safer than market or chestnut at night. Very residential streets with beautiful brownstones. Also close to dog park and the river walkway. About 10min walk from the popular buildings and 25min walk to huntsman
good place for people new to the city! close to both Penn and a lot of stuff downtown. I never lived in Philly beforehand, and definitely recommend this location
Love the neighborhood! If you're interested in being close to the center of the city and being able to actively explore Philly (for a not extreme price) it was great! Also was easy to get to my school - University of Pennsylvania. 15-20 mins to get to school by transit; 30 mins walking.

That being said I did notice that most students lived on the side of the school!
The beautiful tree-filled neighborhood is full of families, dogs, and students - it is safe, full of great restaurants, and boasts an equally quick walk to both University City and downtown attractions. The immediate access to the Schuylkill River Trail also can't be beat. While we lack apartment amenities, we love living in a historical brownstone that has charm and character. This is an area where you can live as a student and stay for another 20 years after that.
Great neighborhood, though expensive for Philly. If you're a Penn grad student who wants to be near campus but not on campus, it's ideal for distance from school and the Rittenhouse area. Lots of parks and residents are friendly.
There are residents without housing in the neighborhood. They're good people and new residents should be respectful of them and their belongings.
The neighborhood is very residential. Not a ton of bars/restaurants which can be annoying if you just want to pick up food after a busy day, but it's right near the park and Skukyhill river trail which is great for exercising and getting outdoors. Close to Trader Joe's and South Street market which is convenient
Center City is a fantastic area. I live on the northern side of it, which is the more financial/industrial/apartment building side. I live 2 blocks from a busy Trader Joe's and inches away from tons of great restaurants, corner stores, and shops. It's close to Rittenhouse Square, a swanky square block with a tiny park in the middle, as well as the Schuylkill River trail (great for running and biking) and the Art Museum area. Multiple major bus lines slice through this neighborhood, making it quite easy to get anywhere when you don't want to walk or bike.
