Extremely Unsafe and flat-out dangerous

Very unsafe place to live in, car break-ins all the time, stolen vehicles, doors get broken, specifically unsafe for women.
Packages get stolen all the time. Management does not do anything about this and would rather see people leave than do something about the safety of this place.

Horrible and very unsafe place to live

Packages get stolen all the time and the property manager, Michelle, does not care and will just say it is basically your fault for ordering packages to your house (Package room is a free for all in terms of stealing). They do not care about their tenants, maintenance takes forever to fix stuff, and the apartment is just in terrible shape. There are thefts happening in the apartment, especially the parking lot and the package room. DO NOT MOVE HERE, unless you want your possessions stolen.

Maybe I just got unlucky with my unit

Pros: very spacious, lots of natural light, gated garage parking for residents and visitors, free coffee, small gym

Cons:
My unit’s layout has a spot for the fridge to be tucked in a corner. Unfortunately when you put a fridge in the corner, the furthest you can open it would theoretically be 90 degrees. However, since the door handle juts out, you get less than 90 degrees. My roommate and I have to turn our bodies sideways to reach the back of the fridge and cleaning it is a challenge.

Maintenance is not good. They tried to convince my roommate and I that our AC was not broken when it really was. We lived in horrible heat (85-89 degrees indoors) from aug-late October. Our electricity bill was extremely high and we received no compensation after speaking with management several times about this issue.

Instead of windows, we have 5 sets of balcony doors (none with actual balconies). 2 of them seep in water every time there is heavy rain. Maintenance always tries to take the easy way out and temporarily fix it, but it’s still a problem after 1.5 years of living here. Because the balcony doors aren’t sealed well, moisture also leaks in. The average humidity level in the primary bedroom ranges from 60-80% depending on the weather. This has resulted in cracked corners of the room and adjacent bathroom.

Bad ant problem in kitchen and pantry during the summer.

Washer/dryer units are kind of old. Dryer squeaks and always takes at least 2 cycles to dry clothes, 3 if towels are in the load.

Verdir

I will have lived at Verdir for all 4 years of optometry school. I like that its a 10 minute drive to campus without lots of traffic. I have felt secure because you need a fob for the garage, stairs, and elevators. The main complaint I have since living here is the package room situation/USPS people. The leasing office has had lots of issues with the package room over the years. Its just a little annoying. There are 3 elevators also but one was broken for about 8 months but was recently fixed.

Good Enough To Not Want To Move

Pros:
-good location: close to UH and not far from downtown/midtown, right next to a park
-safe: gated garage and uses key fobs to access elevators
-spacious floor layout and updated interiors
-lots of light
-good view of med center skyline

Cons:
- broken A/C for a little over 3 months. it took maintenance a long time to figure out the problem and they did not communicate well
- ongoing ant problem since the day we moved in (Aug-Nov)
- COVID is rising again and management has not enforced a mask mandate
-because the apartment mostly has balcony doors instead of windows, there's a lot of sound leakage from 288 highway. Also, none of the doors lead to a balcony. They've all got railings.

Super convinient

Super easy to get to campus (takes about 10-15 minutes). Very secure. Has a small pool and gym. Also has a study lounge. Also has food and drinking events for residents!
