Pav

The actual building and facilities are very nice, it is spacious and modern, the only problem is management is sometimes slow to address problems.

Management can be iffy

Elevators were down for weeks, a huge inconvenience for many. Management is pretty horrible and lease terms are unclear.

Pavilion Review

Living at the Pavilion has been a generally convenient and positive experience. There are countless amenities, and the proximity to the law school is particularly beneficial. The management could use some improvement, as we have had some issues getting them to address certain utility and machinery problems that we have faced in a timely manner, but they are generally helpful. The community is pretty lively, so sometimes the neighbors or people in the shared pool or dog park areas can be loud. The apartment itself is very spacious and the option to have it furnished saved us a lot of money.

Clean & Convenient at a Cost

I have really appreciated the cleanliness, updated appliances, spaciousness, gym, and personal bathroom that my apartment at Pav offers. The apartment came furnished, which was a plus for me. Above all, though, I have loved how close Pav is to the law school—it takes ten minutes or less for me to get from my bedroom to a classroom.

But if it weren't for my great roommates and the inconvenience of moving, I'm not sure I would have stayed all three years. Pav recently underwent a renovation, but many of the troublesome things about the building remain (e.g., broken doors, broken elevators, poor parking assignment system, wifi outages, etc.).

If you are looking for convenience and cleanliness at a cost (i.e., overpriced), Pav is a good choice. But I don't doubt that I could've been happy and in similarly close proximity to the law school in more affordable housing (that possibly had better management and less predatory re-leasing practices).

Amazing Location

Living at the Pavilion, you absolutely are paying for the location. The units themselves are nice, but probably not as nice as the price of rent. The amenities are good, but again, not good enough for how much we pay to live here. However, the location is simply unbeatable, and it is nice to live in a building with so many other 1L's. The maintenance staff is quick and responsive, although the wifi is sometimes slow (which I believe they are working on fixing right now), and the elevator sometimes breaks. All in all, as I said, the location is where a bulk of the cost of rent goes to, so I would keep that factor in mind.

It's OK

The best part about it is definitely the location and living close to a lot of other law students. Since I don't have a car here, this is one of few realistic options for housing since the law school and grocery store are both so close. The apartments themselves are renovated and look really nice. I know people who have had a lot of maintenance issues but personally it hasn't been too bad. That being said, it is very expensive and overpriced for what you are getting. If I had a car I would choose a different option.

Pavilion

My favorite thing about the Pavilion is that it’s so close to grounds and so many other law students live here. The negative aspect is the price: it’s quite expensive, especially if you add parking, and it’s not really as “nice” or fancy as I would expect for how much it costs.

Convenience Better than Quality

As a law student, I've found the location optimal. It eliminates unnecessary commute times, keeps me close to both the school and a large shopping center, and is great for students who don't want to bring a car. Windows are comparatively large, and the a/c system works well.

There are, however, some serious issues with this building.
FIRST: Plan to purchase a mattress/mattress topper. I don't know anybody who didn't do this immediately upon moving in - the mattresses are like stacks of cardboard.
Second, the internet is prone to outages, though this is supposedly being resolved with new internet infrastructure next year (2024).
Third, for anybody living on the 2nd or higher floors, there is one main elevator in the lobby, and that elevator is FREQUENTLY inoperable. More than once, when I've gone to use the backup freight elevator in the garage, that one has been inoperable at the same time.
Fourth, the handling of packages is bizarrely illogical and bafflingly chaotic. The package room, for reasons I have yet to discover, is on the 5th floor. This leads to a host of unnecessary issues, the first of which is related to my third point - when the elevator is out, have fun walking x number of stairs to retrieve your package. Second, the delivery drivers are (understandably) quite unenthusiastic about hauling truckloads of boxes up to the fifth floor. Which means that when the elevator is out, or when the staff at the front desk aren't looking, or the delivery is after 6pm or so, they will just drop the boxes somewhere in the lobby. This leads nicely into the third issue with this package room situation: your boxes aren't yours until you've completed the treasure hunt to find them. Maybe they're on the fifth floor. Maybe they're in the lobby. Maybe they're in the mail room (which is on the first floor, nowhere near the package room). Who knows? But suppose you've managed to overcome the inoperable elevator and climbed the peak to the package room. The fun is only beginning. Boxes are haphazardly shoved into 5 general spaces corresponding to floor number, and best of luck to you in sorting through all of them trying to find yours. As somebody who uses online shopping to meet many of my daily needs, I am at a total loss as to why the package room is located where it is, and almost completely unmanaged.
