Glad I’m only here for a year

Property itself is nice and the buildings have character but the management could be better. Community spaces (hallways, lobby area) aren’t always the cleanest, my building has had the fire alarm go off several times resulting in fire trucks coming, and management is not very reasonable when they do get back to you. It’s a shame because there’s a lot of history here! But overall wouldn’t want to live here long term and will be moving next year.

Worst Place to Live

My experience at Alden has been horrific and other students should have to deal with these terrible circumstances. Management does not answer emails and maintenance rarely comes to fix things. The front gates are always broken.

Great unit but somewhat poor management

The unit itself is very nice and homey, though the walls are a bit thin and the windows a bit drafty. There are some issues with limited parking, and management can be very slow to respond to inquiries and/or work requests

Great apartment, bad services

I’ll start by saying I love my physical apartment at Alden Park. My complaints arise from bad and untimely maintenance to bad communication. The new management company is doing better than when I moved in but just last night I only had somewhat warm water when I wanted to take a relaxing bath. Some residents here are also very inconsiderate, leaving trash everywhere (inside and out), getting into yelling matches at 2am, and smoking pot in their apartments so mine smells. I absolutely adore the dog park for my dog and the grounds and location for school are great. It’s definitely better than what it was but I can’t wait to be moving.

Lots of space, and short walk to the trail.

Alden Park is a great value in an area that has been neglected for years. I chose to live there because it's close to the Wissahickon trail, the Chestnut Hill East regional rail line, and is easy to get to by car.

Historic and Pretty, Poor Management

+ Beautiful building
+ Maintenance team is good
+ Friendly neighbors
- Impossible to pick up packages
- Unprofessional management staff - lacks professional finesse - their aim is off in terms of "improvements" to building.
- Often shuts off water during the day
- Often only 1 elevator works in 13 story building
- Often has to check apartments when you are not home during the day
- Annual rent increases

New Management = Unhappy Tenant

Parking is terrible. Unsafe, never a guard on duty in the building as they advertise. Fire alarm goes off in the middle of the night. Building is beautiful, location is great, too bad it's not being run properly. Also, they've stopped putting out actual dog-poop bags. Instead, they put out full-size trash bags in the dispensers.

Good

It's nice, but the buildings are historic and the windows are old and leak heavily. This is terrible all year and especially in the winter. Aside from the windows, I do like most of the other amenities and the location. It is between two train stations and close enough to Main St. for an easy Uber ride.

Alden Park

I lived at Alden Park for 2 years. It was my first apartment in Philadelphia and I felt safe because of the security and the fact that it is a gated community. However, if you leave the complex it is not the safest area but it is extremely convenient to get to Center City. I also loved the amenities especially the swimming pool and parking. The price is a lot for the quality and size of the apartments.

Happy Home

Great living experience and awesome neighbors. Everyone is friendly and fabulous. Very pet friendly with excellent outdoor space for dog walking. Safe area, never felt at risk my entire stay. Would recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable and affordable place with a great location.
