Solid space, a bit pricey

It has a nice private patio area for residents. Hillsboro Village is a nice area. Cons: the showers can run out of hot water quickly, and there's no gym close by.

Great location

Acklen Flats is a great place to live to explore Hillsboro Village and be close (but not too close) to campus. There is gated parking on level 3, and 2 levels of public parking for visitors or people going to nearby retail locations. The courtyard is great and never crowded, and it has a fire pit, garden space, TV, and grill. Very pet friendly and typically quiet. Every unit comes with a Roku TV, and maintenance has been very quick and helpful. My only complaints are that the concrete floors can get cold, and we typically hear a lot of ambulances (which is fair when being so close to VUMC).

Getting around Hillsboro Westend

Hillsboro Westend Reviews

At Acklen Flats, you're right above Jeni's and Double Dogs, across the way from Fido, and within walking distance of anything in Hillsboro Village.
I am obsessed with this neighborhood. I love easy access to the shops on 21st ave (Fido's, Jeni's, Hopdoddy, now a Crumbl cookies!!!). I am also a runner and love the surrounding neighborhoods I explore on my running routes through this neighborhood- many of which are cute houses with families, Belmont area if you want a walk around their beautiful campus and surrounding areas. Overall very pleased with this neighborhood.

It does not feel safe 100% of the time (mostly late at night), but for the most part it feels friendly and safe. I say this because in three years I have been here, we have had someone break into my car as well as someone try to get into our apartment. These may be random, isolated incidents, and is probably 'safe' relative to most big city/urban areas!
The Hillsboro Westend location has been great for my time in the program thus far! I am able to walk to a bus stop about 10-15 minutes away so that I do not need a yearly parking pass (I pay for daily parking if I need it on a clinical day!). This location is right next to the highway, multiple grocery stores, and 21st Street where there are lots of fun restaurants and shops. Would highly recommend this area!
Great neighborhood with lots of families. Very safe to walk/run in. People are always walking dogs or out and about early in the morning through the evening. About a block from Elmington park which has events such as movies in the park and food trucks all summer. A beautiful and safe neighborhood about 3 miles from downtown and 1 mile from Vanderbilt.
Hillsboro Village has a cute downtown with some good coffee shops and stores. I love being able to walk 5 min from my apt to restaurants because parking can be tricky. That said, I do hear a lot of traffic since my bedroom window faces 21st Ave S.
This is the ideal neighborhood for Vanderbilt students! Close to campus, accessible to the grocery store, restaurants on 21st, and not very far (a few miles) from Downtown (an easy Uber ride or even walk!)
Walkable to the university, downtown shopping, grocery stores, and Walgreens and CVS. A quiet neighborhood with lots of students and families. It has nice roads to run/walk on and many parks.
I've always felt safe walking home from the hospital at all hours of the day/night. Plenty of restaurants/coffee shops/bars within walking distance; nice neighborhoods for running as well.
