Great neighborhood to visit, just alright to live in.
- There are lots of restaurants but few are quick serve and many are pricey, so they get old fast.
- Very nice to be next to Zilker and Town Lake, but we don't use it as often as we could.
- Being close to a large park that hosts lots of large events and located at a major intersection (Barton Springs and S. Lamar), there are lots of drunks, bad drivers, litterers, and homeless people. Also, lots of aggressive bikers illegally using the sidewalk which makes walking your dog a nuisance.

I love this area because you are close to great local bars and restaruants, and still have plenty of green space! I have an active dog and this is a great area for dog lovers. I feel relatively safe and it's only a ten minute drive to downtown!
Close to grocery stores, a few fast food restaurants and a coffee house. Pretty quite neighborhood. About a 5-10 minutes from downtown. A lot of construction right now with all of the new houses and duplexes going up.
A lot of great restaurants and bars nearby. Close access to the greenbelt for hiking. Short bus/drive to Zilker Park or South Congress. Bus to school takes about 30 minutes.
Very good restaurants in the area. Close to South Congress and Barton Springs area without being in the middle of it all.
Love it
Or do, it doesn't matter, everyone knows this is the next "place to be in Austin" after south congress has run it's course. New restaurants and shops are going in everyday, and there's always fun local things to do. Traffic is horrendous, and so are the roads. I only hope that the City of Austin realizes that the roads need enhancement for further growth. Make more bike lanes!
The South Lamar area has all the shops and restaurant I love super close by. I really like the location of my complex and always feel safe at any time of day. That is extremely important for a young woman such as myself.
