A quieter place to live
The Octagon management is OKAY. They try to put on lots of events for residents. The building mgmt is pretty responsive. Things are fixed quickly. Not a lot of gimmicks.

Not ideal living
The studio is tiny and can barely fit one persons personal belongings!
I moved into my building thinking that my commute to work in the Garment district will be easy and simple. But the building is so far from the train station!
The buses are never consistent with their times and the train is either packed or late.

Apartment living
Quite and enjoyable living on a small secluded island just far enough away from Manhattan. Personal red bus service during rush hours as well as a personal black bus weekend service to and from public transit to the apartment.

Good apartment
I live at the Octagon on Roosevelt island and although I really like the island, there are a number of drawbacks for the building. The number one issue being the distance from the tram or the subway. There is a free red bus on the island but thats still time consuming due to the bus schedule for non-business hours and weekends.
The island is very safe and it is very quiet. I have a pool in my building but its outdoors and only opens about 4-6 months out of the year. A lot of children there so I usually can't chill and enjoy my pool.
