Great apartment

Great location on square. Doorman. Very helpful and responsive maintenance staff. Reasonable rent. All condo owned. Mostly older population / less Wharton students, but in proximity to other buildings with more students, so nice to have a bit of privacy.

Love this place!

I have a beautiful, spacious, sunny studio with a wall of windows and an amazing view. The place is well-managed and well-taken-care-of. It's great to live right over Rittenhouse Square. The building is a nice, quiet space to come home to. The building is on the older side but it has character, and I have never had issues with pests. Maintenance issues are taken care of promptly. Units are privately owned. Laundry is downstairs. The only downside is that you can't get A/C cooling in the winter (only heat), so it can get warm when the sun is shining; a large fan fixes this issue though.

Old building in great location

Most of the other residents are older but there are some other students here and there. People are generally friendly. The fire alarm or electricity goes off on occasion but not too frequently (less than once a month). It's an old building. The gym is a bit small and also old with dated equipment. Laundry room on the 1st floor, you pay by loading a card. I've never had an issue getting packages from the front desk. Wonderful view of Rittenhouse Square Park if your apartment faces north. ~10-minute walk to BSL and the 12 bus stop is right outside.

Comfortable, no frills apartment in good location

The apartment has been fine. The management is responsive to work requests, and the staff are very friendly. There is a nice gym and an adequate laundry facility. The location on Rittenhouse Square is excellent. There are many long-term residents in the building who are friendly. Not as many common spaces or fancy amenities as in newer buildings.

Very comfortable but some headaches

I've lived in this apartment my whole time in Philly and in general have been really happy with it. The location is hard to beat, it's extremely safe, maintenance is responsive and it's great to have a front desk to securely receive packages and hold a spare key. That said, it's a big building with some of the associated headaches; there are some floors where units aren't kept clean and consequently there are rodent and roach problems (have only seen once or twice in my unit over years). Also, I've had a lot of problems with building maintenance affecting my unit, like leaks coming into my apartment from the unit above -- it gets cleaned up pretty quickly but I still have to deal with the intrusion of repairmen and damage to my belongings.

Studio at the Savoy

This apartment is absolutely perfect for what I was looking for. It's a cozy studio with giant windows that take up the length of the room (facing south so get tons of great light). The kitchen has new appliances, including dishwasher.

Building itself has been great so far. Very nice front desk and maintenance staff. It's a lot of Philadelphia residents versus Wharton students, which I appreciate because it's nice having a space that feels removed from the social scene. Perfect location on Rittenhouse Sq Park. I think I pay $30/month for the gym, which is basic but has everything I need (TVs, good AC, usually empty). Laundry room is also nice and clean and never crowded.

Savoy

Good apt, some old building issues with water and wish the gym membership was included. But can’t beat living right on Rittenhouse Square with relatively cheap rent!

Great management, safe building

Very safe, great location. Other units say they've had bad pest problems (mice and roaches) -- I've only seen a mouse once in several years, roaches very occasionally in warmer weather. Building is very safe with 24/7 front desk, can receive packages, dry cleaning, etc. Units are owned individually so they vary a lot in terms of finishing, renovation, etc. On site gym is nice but costs extra.

Walnut street is very safe - there's always people around and it's well lit. The neighborhood includes all of the fun aspects of living in Philadelphia - tons of access to food and bars, nearby grocery stores/markets, access to the parks and the Schuylkill River Trail
Very close to fun restaurants/bars/shops. Close to the subway as well as the train station (suburban station).
Rittenhouse is the safest part of Philly. It's a very "happening" part of town—lots of restaurants and bars on every street. At the same time, it's right next to more residential neighborhoods to walk around in and explore. It's a great place to live relatively close to the law school but with a degree of separation so as not to get trapped in the law school bubble.
The neighborhood is both quiet and lively. There is so much around, but I have never had an issue sleeping or studying because there is too much noise. The broad street line is a 10-15 minute walk away and we are close to shopping, food, the park, and the river trail. Has everything within a 10-15 walk.
This neighborhood has everything I need within walking distance. Shops, grocery stores, parks, the subway and trolley, post office. You name it. It's very safe and extremely quiet, which helps when I'm trying to study. The Rittenhouse Square area is really the best place to live in Philly if you don't mind paying a little more.
I love this neighborhood and knew I wanted to live here when beginning my apartment search. The park is one of my favorite places in the city, and I love being able to easily access all the restaurants and shopping nearby. It's also an easy (~20 minute) walk to Penn Law, and the walking commute has always been a nice and peaceful part of my day.

Spruce Street in particular is great - it's a little south of the square, so is quieter/shielded from a lot of the traffic that the neighborhood gets, but it's not out of the way or far away. There's a Starbucks, a grocery store (Rittenhouse Market), and a few corner stores (Four Seasons and Food & Friends) within a 2-3 minute walk of my apartment.
Love the neighborhood, Rittenhouse Square is beautiful and we are so close to the more commercial areas like Walnut Street while not being in the center of the craziness. Plus we are within walking distance of public transportation including 10 minutes from the 15/16 street PATCO station. I personally think it is one of the best areas of Philly to live in.
Rittenhouse Square has a park in the center surrounded by a bookstores, restaurants, and a public library. It is open to pets and often has open art / food markets on the weekends. It is close to the Broad Street Line and PATCO. There are many families who live in the area. It is affordable compared to other major cities (NYC, DC, Boston), but there are certainly more affordable areas in Philadelphia, simply without the luxury of being so close to Center City.
