Love our apartment but each one is different

Because the Savoy is a condo building, the quality of units you will get is quite variable. Also the amount you can expect to pay will vary based on what the condo owner decides to charge you.

Overall, really positive experience with the building. The front desk is great and management is good at communicating about any maintenance that will be done. The laundry room downstairs is great, as is the gym which is only ~$20 per month or so and is usually empty.

Not many Wharton students live in this building (residents tend to be older) but it's right down the street from the Claridge and has a great location right on Rittenhouse Square.

LOVE THE SAVOY

The Savoy is a phenomenal building. Not a "Wharton" building, which I like. Staff is amazing. Run amazingly well. Maintenance comes within a half day if you need anything. Truly love living here and really feels like home :)

Really happy!

The building is older, with older guests. It's all condos - apartments vary widely in terms of how updated they are. Amazing location right on the square. You can walk anywhere. Gym in building, laundry downstairs that you have to pay for. All in all, really happy!

Decent building with great staff and great location

The building had a doorman and has a full service and responsive staff, so if there is an issue they will pretty much always fix it that day. It is a little older building but it's in a great location.

Great bang for your buck!

Old apartment building but refurbished! Super responsive management and very secure building. Great windows with laundry and gym in building. Great views of the park!

Great building

We could not be more pleased with this building and with our apartment. We have a park view, hardwood floors, a well-appointed, modern kitchen, and lots of space for very reasonable rent. The building may not have the amenities that other buildings offer, but we never find ourselves missing them. Also, the building is a mix of families, retirees, and students, which makes it a little quieter. We always appreciate having a peaceful place to come back to.

Cheap place to live, no frills, great location

This is a condo building, so there is high variance in the quality of the apartments. Ours is fairly basic and it is quite affordable. Property management is terrible - the manager is mean and some things can take a while to get fixed.

Not many Wharton students live here, but it's close to everyone.

Perfect location, well kept building

It's hard to find a better location (unless you prefer the other side of the square, I suppose). Everyone who works in the building is extremely nice and helpful. Even though the units are condos, building maintenance has quickly taken care of everything I've needed since I've been here (basic plumbing etc). The units are hit or miss in terms of finishes since they are renovated by owner, but the common spaces are well maintained and clean. The building seems to be a mix of students, young professionals, and older people; I've never had a problem with noise or otherwise.

Good bang for your buck!

Great location! Not the most social building in comparison to the other big Wharton buildings but enough students to share a daily UBER bus with to class. Great bang for your buck apartment, old but refurbished. Building is super responsive to any fix it requests. Small gym and rooftop included.

Great building

Overall The Rittenhouse Savoy is great. The building is very clean and I have never seen any kind of pests. Maintenance has been prompt for the few issues I've had. The neighborhood is super safe and obviously close to lots of restaurants and shops. It's not as close to Penn as other options but the 21/42 are totally adequate for getting to school.

Rittenhouse Square Reviews

Walnut street is very safe - there's always people around and it's well lit. The neighborhood includes all of the fun aspects of living in Philadelphia - tons of access to food and bars, nearby grocery stores/markets, access to the parks and the Schuylkill River Trail
Very close to fun restaurants/bars/shops. Close to the subway as well as the train station (suburban station).
Rittenhouse is the safest part of Philly. It's a very "happening" part of town—lots of restaurants and bars on every street. At the same time, it's right next to more residential neighborhoods to walk around in and explore. It's a great place to live relatively close to the law school but with a degree of separation so as not to get trapped in the law school bubble.
The neighborhood is both quiet and lively. There is so much around, but I have never had an issue sleeping or studying because there is too much noise. The broad street line is a 10-15 minute walk away and we are close to shopping, food, the park, and the river trail. Has everything within a 10-15 walk.
This neighborhood has everything I need within walking distance. Shops, grocery stores, parks, the subway and trolley, post office. You name it. It's very safe and extremely quiet, which helps when I'm trying to study. The Rittenhouse Square area is really the best place to live in Philly if you don't mind paying a little more.
I love this neighborhood and knew I wanted to live here when beginning my apartment search. The park is one of my favorite places in the city, and I love being able to easily access all the restaurants and shopping nearby. It's also an easy (~20 minute) walk to Penn Law, and the walking commute has always been a nice and peaceful part of my day.

Spruce Street in particular is great - it's a little south of the square, so is quieter/shielded from a lot of the traffic that the neighborhood gets, but it's not out of the way or far away. There's a Starbucks, a grocery store (Rittenhouse Market), and a few corner stores (Four Seasons and Food & Friends) within a 2-3 minute walk of my apartment.
Love the neighborhood, Rittenhouse Square is beautiful and we are so close to the more commercial areas like Walnut Street while not being in the center of the craziness. Plus we are within walking distance of public transportation including 10 minutes from the 15/16 street PATCO station. I personally think it is one of the best areas of Philly to live in.
Rittenhouse Square has a park in the center surrounded by a bookstores, restaurants, and a public library. It is open to pets and often has open art / food markets on the weekends. It is close to the Broad Street Line and PATCO. There are many families who live in the area. It is affordable compared to other major cities (NYC, DC, Boston), but there are certainly more affordable areas in Philadelphia, simply without the luxury of being so close to Center City.
