South Lake Union

Tech Hub
Located just north of Downtown Seattle is the bustling South Lake Union neighborhood. This area has seen significant development recently, and now houses a mix of tech companies, luxury condos, and trendy restaurants. The neighborhood is well-connected by public transport and features a streetcar line that connects it to the downtown area.

Some of the trendy restaurants in the area include re:public, a farm to table eatery, and mbar, a rooftop restaurant and bar offering stunning views and modern middle-eastern, mediterranean cuisine. South Lake Union is known for its arts scene, and is home to several galleries and performance spaces, including the Cornish Playhouse and the Museum of History and Industry. There are also outdoor recreation spaces nearby such as Lake Union Park.

With large companies like Amazon and Microsoft calling it home, the area is popular with young professionals and houses many tech workers. The mix of luxury condos, apartments, and townhomes offer plenty of options with an urban location, making this a top choice for those looking for a blend of culture and convenience.

South Lake Union — 7.7/10 Rating (based on 7 neighborhood reviews)
Very safe to walk around, close to the Lake Union park, 15 minute walk to downtown that crosses through the shopping areas. Brisk walk uphill to get to the trendier restaurants and bars.
Quiet in the evenings when all the tech employees leave and ongoing construction stops

I love this neighborhood. Cascade is right next to SLU and Downtown, so you have lots of restaurants and cafes and things nearby, but this area is pretty residential (and Amazon offices), so it's laid back and a bit quieter than in Downtown.

Denny Triangle has many pros and cons. Pros - central to most Seattle neighborhoods, quick walk downtown, some good restaurants/bars. Cons - not the safest neighborhood, could have more going on.

The neighborhood has some grocery stores and food options, however it is more geared towards professionals as there are a few tech companies with large campuses nearby. Because of this, many food options close early and are not open on weekends. However, it is close enough to Capitol Hill that there are nightlife options if you're willing to walk a little ways.

I love the lake! Fun places to eat, a lot of parks, and overall just beautiful. Feels a little sketch to walk around alone at night, but I've only had one incident with an inappropriate drunk(?) guy, and nothing serious.
