Pioneer Square was named for its historical roots within the city itself. This neighborhood marks the first spot where settlers and early pioneers began to build on the Seattle territory back in the mid-1800s. The Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park is found here - showcasing a large part of Seattle’s roots. Nowadays, Pioneer Square is a hip spot filled with trendy coffee shops, lively bars, great architecture, and artistic venues. Bill Speidel's Underground Tour is yet another attraction in Pioneer Square, offering tours under the streets, which is a fun way to learn more about Seattle’s past.

Pioneer Square is immensely popular thanks to its food scene. Throughout town are countless options for good food and drinks. A favorite pastime for the locals of Pioneer Square is socializing at these eateries on their days off from work. Bars in the area include Shawn O'Donnell's American Grill and Irish Pub, The Meyer, Sake Nomi, Pioneer Square Saloon, and Fuel Sports. Restaurants include Cafe Paloma, Damn the Weather, Casco Antiguo, Copal, Il Corvo. Pioneer Square is a hip and trendy spot that attracts many young adults in the area and acts as a hotspot within the city of Seattle.
