Sullivan's Island

Island Living
Sullivan’s Island is famous for its laid-back and relaxed attitude. There are almost no short term rental spots, most of the island is made up by residential homes. Sullivan’s Island is an old neighborhood that was first established in 1817, and it has a deep military history. The island was known to protect the harbor from foreign invaders on ships. For anyone interested in the history of this neighborhood, remnants of the old military are still present to this day. There are even cases where some of these historic houses have transitioned into single family homes. The most historic spot is the Fort Sumter National Monument, accessed by boat. This spot is a fort now turned museum that showcases Civil War history.

The food scene is pretty great on Sullivan’s Island. If in the mood for drinks, the locals of Sullivan’s Island recommend hitting one of the bars that are included within one of these restaurants. Recommended eateries include The Obstinate Daughter, High Thyme Cuisine, Pier 22, Home Team BBQ, and The 450 Pizza Joint. Sullivan’s Island is a great spot to live for those who are interested in historic sites and wants to live close to a beach.
