University Park

High-End Residential Area Near the University of Denver

University Park is a high-end residential neighborhood adjacent to the University of Denver. Filled with large houses and their well-groomed lawns, its one of the nicest areas the city has to offer.

While largely made up of single-family homes, University Park does contain several luxury apartment buildings. In addition to these apartments, there are some smaller buildings scattered throughout. But because of the exclusive nature of the area, these may prove themselves tricky to find. Regardless of where you decide to live, residents won’t find themselves longing for a car thanks to the nearby commercial corridors and conveniently located RTS station.

Amazing Neighborhood
University Park — 8/10 Rating (based on 51 neighborhood reviews)
Atelier is located in a quiet, safe, and accessible neighborhood. Behind the apartment complex there are single-family homes that make for pretty and safe places to walk your dog. It is also within walking distance of a few parks. The apartment is in driving distance of several grocery stores (King Soopers, Safeway, Target, Spruce), as well as several restaurants. Atelier is also about a mile from a light rail stop, and is situated near several bus lines, so walkability and public transportation are relatively accessible. Although the neighborhood is not the busiest, it is not far from downtown (around 15 minutes), the mountains (30 minutes), or the airport (35 minutes).

The neighborhood is nice and quiet! It is 10 minutes from downtown, and a less than 30 minutes from the closest hikes. There are many single-family homes and parks nearby, which makes for a nice place to walk with friends or your dog. It would be nice to have more food options nearby, but it is within delivery range of many places and is a quick drive to food as well!

Generally I like the neighborhood. There's a lot of traffic, but that's just the nature of living by a busy street like University. There's a lot of space to go for a walk or a run in the nearby neighborhoods, people are very friendly, and the neighborhood is generally clean. It would be nice if there were more restaurants in the area, or a yoga studio.

We live just blocks from campus and several restaurants. The only negative is this building is near some of the Frat houses, so they can be quite loud during the weekends.

Super close to DU and everything surrounding DU. Also a nice midway between DTC and downtown for possibly commute to work. Apartment family friendly? No. Pet friendly? No. Safe? Apartments are safe. Parking garage and bikes are not.

I love the area. It is close to campus, transit, and restaurants. The only problem is that because of how close it is to campus there are always a lot of undergrads and it can get noisy on the weekends.

Coming directly from undergrad it felt like I was in the same kind of location, which I liked. It's active with pets, people exercising, etc. The walk to class is super quick and the area has lots of food/drinks options. Very nice surrounding neighborhood with tons of family houses so safety for me wasn't an issue when walking (granted I'm a guy).

Close enough to campus to walk with a lot of restaurants and bars close by. You are super close to campus so you're primarily see other students out to bars. If you're looking to go downtown or to South Broadway it is a little bit of a trek to get down there.

Nice parks for walking. The sidewalks are busted. It's right near all the fraternities and sororities so significant traffic on that back road and very little street parking if people come visit you.

I have mixed feelings. It's really convenient to be so close to the Sturm Law School (takes me five minutes to walk into class!) and the Ritchie Center, and I love how easy it is to hop onto the interstate from my apartment.

However, being close to the University means you have to put up with a lot of traffic, there's limited street parking for guests, and there will always be a lot of people outside your apartment talking loudly or drunk yelling at each other at night. Being this close to the interstate and some major streets (University and Evans) means you'll hear a lot of ambulances, honking, and tires screeching as well.
Asbury Place Condos feels like it's inside the University (even though it's not owned by DU), so the neighborhood feels very safe and clean. However, if you go a few blocks east towards University, you'll quickly find trash, graffiti, and porch pirates (people stealing packages). While the noise, traffic, parking, and trash are all kind of a bummer, it would be really difficult to find a place in the city that didn't have those problems. So overall, I think it's a nice neighborhood!

Neighborhood is fantastic. There are great parks and walking trails, plenty of fun restaurants and bars, and it is easy to get downtown pretty quickly. If you can deal with the occasional noise from the undergrads around, it is a great spot to be. It's very quiet as soon as you get two or three blocks away from the University. Walking through the neighborhood is quite nice.

It is exactly what you would expect from a campus neighborhood. You are close to school, it's easy to be social, plenty of bars and restaurants, grocery store is close and there are options. Also close to the light rail - 20 min to downtown. However, there are young people everywhere and they tend to be loud at night even during COVID. There is pretty high crime, especially at the gas station across the street - robbery, indecent exposure, attempted assault, harrassment, etc. Campus safety does keep you informed and you are alerted if there is a dangerous person in your area. I have not felt unsafe walking around during the day (I am a 20 something female).
