Chapel Hill

Quiet Suburban Town
Chapel Hill has a suburban feel, with many single-family homes and quiet streets. The neighborhood is not particularly walkable, with few shops and restaurants within walking distance. The neighborhood is located near several major highways, including I-40 and US-15, making it easy to get around by car. Chapel Hill is a family-friendly neighborhood with several top-rated schools nearby, including Chapel Hill High School and East Chapel Hill High School. While the neighborhood is not known for its nightlife or entertainment options, it is located near several other neighborhoods that offer more in the way of dining, shopping, and entertainment, including the nearby Franklin Street. Overall, Chapel Hill is a great place to live for those who value a quiet, suburban lifestyle with easy access to the city's many amenities.

Chapel Hill — 8.4/10 Rating (based on 200 neighborhood reviews)
It's very quiet: mostly graduate students and some families. Very convenient for getting to McColl. It is tucked away in the corner of campus so if you want to walk anywhere, it takes about a mile to get into campus. I would recommend having a car for this neighborhood since there are no grocery stores within walking distance.

The neighborhood consists entirely of UNC graduate students (business school, med school, law school, etc.). The Baity Hill apartments include Baity Hill Drive and Mason Farm Road. Baity Hill is slightly more family friendly (with playgrounds and a club house), whereas Mason Farm Road areas are better suited for singles or individuals looking for roommates.

Baity Hill accommodates singles, couples, and families, and the neighborhood is very diverse. There are common areas to meet within the community, and you have great access to different areas of campus. The area is very safe at all hours, with minimal noise. Grocery stores are just a couple of miles away - you can get there by driving, convenient public transit, or the UNC shuttle service.

Neighborhood feels super safe. Little kids will like the playground on-site. Lots of friends for them to play with. Elementary school (Glenwood) is awesome, if not old. Plenty of community events to meet people and for kids to play. I like it here, and recommend it to most people.

There is some noise from neighborhood entertainment that you can hear, nothing too loud. Not distracting to me and doesn't occur late at night. Minor pest problems are from roaches only, but we do have pest control come out and it's included in the fees we already pay, no extra cost. There is a tiny gym, about average to most complexes. I walk to the business building from the bus stop, as I take public transit since it is free, and it takes <40 to get to class (total).

This is the only bad part about Baity Hill. It is distant from stores, however, you have public bus (for free) and the P2P (school transportation) during night hours.

There's nowhere in walkable distance from where I live. That's the main downside. It is right on public transit so that's good. It's really safe and quiet.

Close to the highway and not too far from shopping. I would love to see a recycling center and an extra dumpster. Safe and quiet.

Love the complex and surrounding area. Very “neighborhoody.” However, very dark at night, not many lights.

The building is not in a neighborhood, but has a lot within it's complex. There is a pool, walking paths, and close access to major roadways. It is located right off of I-40 and only 10 minutes from downtown chapel hill. You would need to drive to get to where the majority of students hang out, but many students choose the Blu.

Green and friendly landscape. Sometimes the noise caused by leaf sweeping machine is disturbing.

If triggered by careless residents, the fire alarm is going to be another concern.

Trash dumping is not bad but will definitely be more convenient if more trash dumping spots can be found.

Not within walking distance of bars or other things like that. This area necessitates owning a vehicle or your Uber expenses will get out of control. During the rush hour commutes getting to campus can take upwards of 15 minutes and during the return from the business school can easily take 30 minutes. Safe community and people are friendly.

The neighborhood is isolated, but safe. The property is located within a Forrest, but is very close to shops (1 mile) and South Point Mall (3 miles) which is where we spend a lot of time.
