River East

A Developing Area with Lots of Eateries and Popular Entertainment Spots
Still growing quickly, River East is home to many wonderful residences, restaurants, and attractions. Most buildings are above sea level giving many units and high rise condominiums spectacular views of the water. It is also home to the most popular movie theater in the city and the famous Fox and Obel food market. Due to its smaller size, most amenities, entertainment destinations and great restaurants are a short walk away.

River East — 8.9/10 Rating (based on 30 neighborhood reviews)
It's tough in the summer with all of the tourists running in and out of Navy Pier. Lakeshore also floods right outside of the building, but it's always bustling and it feels safe. It's great to have the Target right down the street and several grocery stores in the neighborhood.

Streeterville is essentially a more remote (and better smelling) River North. Close to Navy Pier, so can be congested in the summer. Right on the river, which is great. Right down the road from Northwestern Medical and law school, so pretty safe neighborhood overall.

Just removed from the center of mass for Booth students, Streeterville offers an outstanding neighborhood to call home during your two years. Getting on the #2 or 6 buss makes commuting to Harper just as easy as taking the train.

Streeterville is a super convenient neighborhood - the building is right next to Whole Foods, Target, drug stores, etc. Everything you need is right here. It's not very close to the L is the only drawback.

I like the Streeterville neighborhood so far, there is a good amount of grocery stores and restaurants. My only complaint is that there is limited El train lines in the area.

Streeterville is great. Biggest benefit is being able to walk to school/work. I generally feel safe and it's fun being so close to the lake.

So much to do in Streeterville and it is close to the river and the beaches. Lots of dogs walking around. Very safe neighborhood as well.

I think the area is nice because there is so much around... but it can get a little hectic with tourists since it is so close to Navy Pier. Especially in the summer. It is a little bit of an older crowd- I am 25 and am considered young. But everyone is nice and there is a lot to do

Streeterville is a pleasant neighborhood. However, it is very upscale and predominantly white. Not much diversity in terms of people, food, nightlife, etc.

Close to grocery stores (Whole Foods and Treasure Island), Target Express opening later in 2015, about a 10 minute walk to red line subway but lots of nearby bus lines, LA Fitness and Planet Fitness are the closest gyms. Safe area with high foot traffic towards Navy Pier.

Streeterville is a very residential neighborhood so there isn't a ton of nightlife, but there are some nice restaurants! River North is only a short walk away so sometimes it's nice to come home to a quieter neighborhood.

The neighborhood is amazing. WholeFoods and Target are both 1-2 blocks away, as is a movie theater and beer/liquor store. Not to mention, Ohio Street Beach is literally less than a 5 minute walk.

A bit of a hike to the train near MPP each morning

Don't think that Streeterville is multi-level -- makes it hard to call Ubers and to walk place -- also far from the subway lines

Limited bars and restaurants although there is a Whole Foods, Target, Corepower Yoga, etc. nearby
