Really, Really Nice Value for the Money

This complex has about a dozen two-story buildings with six units in each building. I split a two bedroom unit with two other roommates; the master bedroom is big enough that we could fit all our beds in one room, so we turned the smaller bedroom (because it's pretty small) into a study. It's worked out great because that way, no matter who is home, there's a quiet place where we can go to work.

The apartment isn't fancy (most of the appliances are fairly dated), but it's clean and there are windows in every room but the bathroom so that we have lots of light, especially from the glass door/wall panel in the living room. The one bedrooms don't have much storage, but the two-bedroom is much more doable. Regardless, every unit also gets a storage locker within the building. Your view depends on which part of the complex your in and which unit your in within your building; I've lived here going on three years in two different units, and in both of mine, we had a rear facing apartment which looks out over a nice grassy area between multiple buildings. We had a bit of an issue our first year with ants and spiders, but we were on the ground floor. Since moving to the second floor, we haven't had any problems. We also had a bit of an issue getting non-emergency maintenance work done in our first unit, but I think they were just short-staffed because they've been much better about responding this year.

This is a great complex for pets because the deposit isn't outrageous, and there's lots of open spaces for them to run around in. Plus, there's an actual dog park about five minutes away. In fact, lots of residents have pets. It's also really nice for families because of the open spaces to play and because the complex is on three different bus routes. At least one public school bus actually pulls into the apartment, another stops on the street across from the complex, and there are two city transit bus stops on the main street, one going in each direction. You can park your car in any uncovered spot for free; if you'd like a covered parking space, it's $30/month, but it may not be next to your building.

There's a small, outdoor pool on the complex, as well as an indoor pool and hot tub in the building with the leasing office. The pools are nice, though the gym that's also in the leasing office building leaves much to be desired. There's a washer and dryer unit in the building, but it only takes a prepaid card you get when you first sign your lease. If you want to refill the card, you have to go load cash into an ATM-like machine at the leasing office. Make sure you have the right type of cash, though: it only accepts $5, $10, and $20 bills. The washer and dryer usually work pretty well; the washing machine is $1.75 - $2.00 per load and the dryer is a minimum of $1.50 per load.

You get what you pay for

Not a bad place for the price. Everything in the apartment works and is in decent shape. Maintenance is timely if you use the website to report problems. However, the leasing staff are pretty terrible - unresponsive and rude. Laundry is expensive - $3.50 or so load to wash&dry.

Spacious floor plan, quiet neighborhood, but dated

It's good for the price, especially if you are married/with kids and can't split the rent with other roommates. Nice quiet open area throughout the apartment complex, never felt in danger. Bus stop is right outside the apartment entrance. Floor plan is pretty spacious and each unit has a separate indoor storage unit included with cost of rent. Only complaint is that the apartments are somewhat dated, and the entryway apartment doors are hollow so sound in the entryway of each building travels easily into each apartment. Utilities are quite pricey to manage the heating/cooling of the apartment in the summer/winter (adds ~$150/month for 2 bed apt).
