Average but good for price

Pros: 1. Apartment square footage is great for the price. 2. Very spacious. 3. Central AC and heat. 4. In unit washer-dryer. 5. Price for the apartment is good.
Cons: 1. Cockroaches. 2. A lot of fixer-uppers. 3. No cleaning ever done on the building stairs and pathway.

Apartment nice; hidden fees and negative externalities

The apartment itself is nice; the Emory is the layout we have, and it's a good space. However, there are some issues with the apartment complex; first, while they claim to be 'pet-friendly', they do charge "pet rent". Secondly, they don't have individual trash receptacles for each apartment building, but only one large dumpster at the front of the complex. It is inadequate for the amount of people, and often overfull. Thirdly, packages often have to be delivered to lock boxes which are somewhat inconvenient.

However, there is a Emory shuttle stop right outside, so I'd still recommend it if you're okay with the above.

I like my apartment/the layout, but not really the rest of the complex & management is slow to respond at times

Quiet place with decent amenities

It has been decent. There have been some issues with maintenance but otherwise this place has been great.

Good price for the size and close to Emory!

Quiet apartment complex close to the CDC and Emory University. Size of apartment is about 1100 sq. ft which is larger than most in the area and a great price starting at $1250 ($1330 after utilities and pet rent). It's not a fancy and new like the apartments in Midtown or by Ponce City Market, but there are remodeled and have been upgraded. I like that it has an office space/sun room - since I am working from home.

Good place to start school

I am pleased with this apartment complex. The staff at the apartment are receptive and helpful and quick anytime maintenance concerns come up. I think it is a good value for the money, although I may try to move in the next year or two to find a less expensive option. The apartment is also right next to a (free) shuttle stop for Emory transportation shuttles.

Nearly $1 per square foot

Great price per square foot at Atlantic Briarcliff- $1,250 for ~1,100 square feet (Includes a balcony and sun room). The complex is upgrading all the time and when maintenance comes, they update fixtures and lights to match what they are adding to new units. Gated, plenty of parking, pet friendly, with fireplace, includes gym, pool and tennis court, on the Emory bus route, half the distance to Emory than from Post Briarcliff. We moved from Gables Rock Springs to get more room, security, and location for our money. We paid more per month at Gables for a 1B1B than for a 2B2B at Atlantic Briarcliff and the staff is a 500% improvement. Get a second floor apartment on the western side of the complex and watch the sun rise over Emory or set over North Druid Hills.

Most Should Avoid Atlantic Briarcliff

Pros: very close to campus and supermarket, executive park shuttle accessible, low cost, 24/7 small gym, maintenance is relatively quick for small issues, flexible with lease extensions, spacious for the price.

Cons: the management is constantly turning over and often useless, renovations are taking forever, they don't lock the gate, required to purchase cable, deceptively low rent because they tack on a big monthly fee, certain apartments near the garbage area deal with pests and rats

Getting around North Druid Hills

North Druid Hills Reviews

It's a prime location for getting around the city! I can get to midtown, Decatur, inman park, etc. in about a 20 min drive or less. The drive to school each morning is about 10-15 mins with little to no traffic. The area is safe with tons of restaurants and shopping. The only downside is that it's not close to any prime nightlife scene, but Ubers aren't too expensive. Incredibly safe which is something I was looking for as a woman living alone. There's no perfect place, but for the amount of space I have (850 sq ft), safety, proximity to school, and easy access to other areas in the city, it can't be beat.
North Druid Hills is a lovely neighborhood and one that I am happy to be living in as my first exposure to Atlanta. There are beautiful tree lined streets and its proximity to Emory is a great selling point.
Beautiful houses and trees, calm, quiet community.
It's an open area with trees. Very close to Emory campus as well as the Toco Hills plaza (Kroger, Publix, many restaurants). Further down Clairmont at the intersection with North Decatur road, there's another Publix as well as some other restaurants in the plaza.

Golden Drop Cafe--which has outdoor seating incase the pandemic is still uncontrolled when you read this--is just 3 min. down the road. Mason Mill Park, which has tennis courts, a pavillion, and walking trails, is also very near.
Very convenient location as far being somewhat close to a lot of different areas though it itself isn't where the night life or all the best restaurant areas are. Lots of grocery options very close by, including Whole Foods, Krogers and Publix.
My wife and I love walking through the beautiful homes in the local neighborhood. It is a very safe area even at night.
You can find any type of store or restaurant that you would ever need within a 5-15 minute drive.
My wife and I go on walks around sunset most nights through the neighborhood. Have never felt unsafe. Neighbors are all very friendly along our walks. Lots of beautiful homes to gawk at.
