Extremely convenient

For UCLA students, especially those in intensive programs, this place is extremely convenient and close (10-15 min to campus parking, walking distance to most of Brentwood, 10 min Uber to Santa Monica). The only drawback is that the building is kind of old; thus, amenities are not spectacular (though much of LA is a bit dated anyway). Overall, an affordable, convenient location.

There are better options out there

Wouldn't choose it again, but I searched for a while and this was the closest & cheapest place for my needs. I live here with my fiance and dog ($50 extra for dog) and we needed to find a place with a den so she could work from home. Going back, I would have chosen to live in the same "neighborhood" but at least several blocks north and/or further away from the 405 freeway (not for noise, but for fewer homeless people walking around). The rent is high for a very old apartment, but the Brentwood area is especially safe and I am within 15-20 mins from campus driving (30 mins door-to-door). The apartment itself is spacious and the necessities work (sinks, garbage disposal, dishwasher, fridge, very quick hot water). No amenities are included and the rental group is a part of Douglas Emmitt / Barrington Plaza that handles "boutique" properties.

Sawtelle Reviews

Many Anderson and UCLA students around so never a dull moment. The area feels comfortable even at night. All of the worthy restaurants are on Sawtelle blvd which is great if you appreciate ramen. You will most likely branch out for more to do but it provides great proximity to UCLA and everywhere else
Probably most popular place for food in the west la area. Ramen, Japanese food, and dessert alley. Bit pricey but since it's upscale and popular, it feels safe at night. Close enough to school if you drive. Lots of students live in the area, but you'll need to uber to meet them or meet them at the restaurants.
Lots of bars and restaurants nearby. Lots of other Anderson students within a mile radius. Quick drive to school (13-15min almost always). In-between Santa Monica Blvd and Wilshire so there are lots of bus options if you won't have a car.
Overall safe (feel comfortable walking around), close to really good restaurants. Not very close to bar/night scene but it's a quick uber or long walk.
Fun neighborhood with groceries, gyms, nightlife within walking distance. Some homeless people on the streets, but they are generally harmless.
Great food options. Good proximity to campus. Not a great bar scene, but santa monica, venice, etc is all very close.
Nice area with good food options within walking distance. The new Target is a great addition as well.
Very safe and nice neighborhood with ease of access to public transportation.
