Brand new building, reasonable management team

My wife and I loved our building and apartment but were not thrilled with the management team. On the property is a large green space where people walk their dogs, but that space was never fully taken care of, it was common to find large fire ant hills and dog poop which was never picked up. It was also an understood that rent would be increased yearly.

Modern Complex

South shore district has been a beautiful place to live at. I enjoy staying in my apartment that has a lot of space and equipped with modern kitchen appliances. I really enjoy the views of downtown Austin and Colorado River while sitting in my living space. Plenty of parking in the garage lot too.

Nice View on the River

Living at South Shore district has been so far a nice experience especially in the morning when you wake up and see the beautiful river and downtown Austin. As for the apartment amenities, they are quiet good too with modern finishing. There is also plenty of parking spots in the dedicated garage. I also like the community events.

Quiet Area along Riverside

South Shore District is a fairly new apartment complex split off into several buildings ( three separate buildings for apartment homes and a few smaller buildings for retail ). Each apartment has very nice amenities that you would expect with any home. The maintenance staff is quick to repair anything once alerted to a problem. I've never had to wait more than a day for something to be repaired. The apartment complex has had some growth issues but they are making changes as necessary to meet the growth demands. The overall area is very safe and is constantly patrolled by Austin Police Department and security staff. Overall, would recommend this place in a heart beat!

Life on the South Shore

South Shore District is an amazing apartment complex that is heads and shoulders about several of its neighboring complexes. It does come with its few problems but are easily resolved by their staff members. The amount of crime that does occur in the area ( particularly auto break-ins ) have been higher than I'd like. However, this has been curved by on site security guards and our community police officer regularly patrolling the area. The apartment community has a shopping area with several restaurants. Overall a great place to live and very close to downtown Austin!

Good

I've had a good experience overall but know that some neighbors have had a bad experience due to mold. The only thing I don't like is the glass top stove. It is weak and scratches easily. I don't think it's right for the apartment to provide me with an appliance that is easily damaged and then charge me for it, which I know they will based on neighbors.

So Far So Good

I've lived in South Shore close to a year now and I'm a fan thus far. The building is new, the pool, gym and business centers are nice and the residents and staff are all friendly. It's a bit pricey, but the location makes it worth it.

While this isn't the buildings fault, I am a little concerned about the construction of a new building that will be starting in the lot next door. Hope it isn't too noisy!

South Shore District

This is a perfect location for anyone looking to getting a bit away from downtown but still be very close to the action. South Shore District is brand new (as of 2015) and has a great location right on the riverfront (lakefront - whatever). There's not a whole lot beyond fast food and HEB for groceries in the immediate vicinity, but it's a 10 minute drive/Lyft/Uber or 15 minute bus ride away from anything more substantial.

Solid Location, but looks like it will be getting pricey

Been living here for approximately 3 months, and so far i've had a pretty good time here. Management has been pretty good on getting to requests, and everyone seems pretty friend. It's a quiet area, but depending on where you live, may get noisy nearer to the street. Nothing too crazy though.

Best part about this is the location. Right next to a bus stop that can take you to the office in about 20 minutes, even in traffic. Right next to Lady Bird so you'll also be able to have great access to outdoor activities. Rainey is a short uber ride away.

Overall i'm very satisfied with this place, though I fear that it will be getting more and more expensive as time goes (which is expected). I've heard of some people getting bikes stolen but it hasn't happened to me, and it is fairly rare. It would be nice if Google Fiber could hurry up and get installed though.

Getting around Riverside

Riverside Reviews

17 reviews
There's lots to do, eat, and drink right in the Riverside neighborhood, and getting to downtown or the East side is so easy if you want to do something different. Lots of great local spots to eat (mostly counter-service style), ranging from sports bars to Tex Mex to Vietnamese food. There's plenty of standard chain restaurants as well (again mostly counter service places). Being close to the Town Lake trail is prime. Some areas don't feel very safe at night, but most of the streets are well-lit. Police often patrol the area, which could make you feel safer or more concerned. Overall, a great area to live that is constantly improving!
Riverside drive especially the east part is relatively a new growing neighborhood. Grocery shops like Walgreens, CVS and HEB are nearby. It is also a relatively safe area and calm. It is close to UT campus with a 10 min drive only in normal traffic.

Moreover it is surrounded with the beautiful access to the river and lady bird lake.
Night life is a bit not much available and most of the action is in downtown of Austin which is very close.
I really like how accessible it is to the other neighborhoods, given its location on the trail, but it is very new and they are putting up a bunch of new apartment buildings and the dining/bar scene hasn't quite filled out yet.
Riverside is growing with many restaurants and grocery shops. There are some constructions going on and it is relatively quiet unless it is rush hours.
It is close to downtown and to UT campus.

Relatively less safe than downtown because of homeless people around.
Riverside neighborhood is a growing neighborhood with many restaurant chains and local tex-mex restaurants. Many gaz stations and many grocery stores. 15 min to UT and 10 min to Downtown with a quick access to the river trails.
Riverside is an accessible and eclectic community. It is directly on the river, which is possibly the best part of the apartment. There is a lot of traffic in this area but that is somewhat understandable.
Awesome neighbors. Management sucks.
Pros: travel time to fun areas around the city by car, easy parking
Cons: Pretty ghetto, can't walk anywhere, not IN any of the fun neighborhoods. Feels like a suburb.
