Stay out of here!

The first few months that I lived in the building were fine. After the first year everything went down. They raised my rent way too high, I was followed by a creepy drunk man almost into my room, and I have constant mold in my room.

Not bad for what you're paying for

The amenities are fine but the older residents can get a little weird, especially at night. A few years ago my apartment became invaded by bedbugs! They took care of them fairly promptly but still, gross. The management is always very nice to deal with

Sam F.

The Woodner is ok. In terms of amenities don't expect much and leasing isn't the most attentive or organized BUT what they lack in service they make up for in price. rent here is super affordable and the building isn't too far from the metro or the shops/restaurants on 14th Street.

The Wonderful Woodner

Living in the Woodner connects you to DC history, since it was once a grand destination hotel. The location is fantastic, on the border of both Mount Pleasant and Columbia Heights, walking distance to restaurants and shops in both. The Woodner is situated at the end of Rock Creek Park, and some apartments have views into the evergreen slopes out the back. There's a great mini grocery that makes even Polar Vortex chills bearable--since you can hibernate without having to go out into the cold! A pool, a dentist, hair salon, gym, and lots of hallways to stroll when you're bored, with nice neighbours, make for a great apartment experience. The staff and maintenance men are really great, and quickly respond.

Your village needs met at the Woodner

We love the Woodner! With the grocery market, dentist, hairdresser, pool, gym, laundry, dry cleaners, tax accountant, day care, and communal outdoor patio, Living in the Woodner is like living in your own village. The Metro is close, and the S buses stop right outside. Zoned for a great school (Bancroft), and with plenty of great eateries nearby in Mt. Pleasant and Adams Morgan, you're sure to love living here as we do. Neighbors are pretty nice, and maintenance responds fast to any needs.

Decent living

The Woodner is a decent place to live - it's close to major bus lines which is convenient and not too far from the metro. The building is very old, but its reasonably priced and very convenient. The studios are perfect for single young professionals and older people who live alone. Overall, I like it very much and plan on staying for a few years.

Good solid place to live

Living in DC is great. The Woodner is a nice place to live. As many people know, it has its share of problems, but as a young professional, the studio apartment is just what i need to be happy. The neighborhood is mostly residential and that is great - close to major bus lines and not far from metro.

Getting around Mount Pleasant

Mount Pleasant Reviews

11 reviews
The neighborhood is a great example of DC's diversity. Mt. Pleasant is a predominantly Latino community (primarily from El Salvador); however, as with most of DC, gentrification has started to take root. The neighborhood is generally safe for the city; however, it is always important to be cautious. Crime is primarily theft (breaking into car windows) and there has only ever been one serious incident that I've known about in my 3 years here. On the positive side, there are so many great restaurants for various types and it is easy to access the rest of the DMV area thanks to the bus and metro. If you enjoy walking, this neighborhood is great as well.
Close to bars and restaurants in Mt. Pleasant and Adams Morgan, and only a short walk to DC USA and other spots in Columbia Heights.
No complaints. I feel very safe and have had no issues. Can't beat the public transportation nearby or all the night life areas. If you are the type of person to feel "unsafe" simply because the area has higher rates of blacks and hispanics then don't move to Mt Pleasant.
Very walkable/easy transit. Nice mix of restaurants and shopping
Love the neighborhood, reasonably close to transit and easy walking to bars and nightlife while not being too close if that's not your thing
The neighborhood is definitely going to be one of the next big things in DC. Very convenient to the S bus-lines.
Mt. Pleasant is one of the best neighborhoods in DC. It is diverse, with a mix of old Hispanic families and newer, educated young professionals. Mt. P street itself has some nice independent bars and restaurants. The area is also adjacent to Columbia Heights, which has Target, Best Buy, etc. as well as Adams Morgan, which is very lively on weekends.
Wonderful in the heart of mount pleasant. Lots or bars and restaurants
